Roberson coach talks big game, provides "bulletin board" material

A little background...

First of all, we hate the decision that BLUE made Friday. Not the type of ending we wanted. The massive downpour of rain and trying to get the tarp on the field was a mess. Not enough tools for 50 people, etc, etc. Should blue have stopped it and said put the tarp on? This was our first ever experience with this situation. Maybe a weather report from some gadget (old school term) could have warned us. But to move the game to another field just for lights and another time, not gonna happen. Homefield advantage is huge as you guys know. Again, we don't contol the weather.

We need so many things at PR. We are only 5 years old and at full capacity having to turn away kids moving in the area. We need $$$ for all sports at PR. And with Title IX in effect, we'd have to purchase for both fields. $250K or more. Who's got that in this economy? Our last coach, for four years, hated them, didn't want to have anything to do with them. So what do you do??

He's gone now.....



We need a field house for our football coach. We can't afford to lose him. He's made huge advances in our football program in two years. Sharing a Conf. Title this past season.

So, we'll just have to get to work and get these things. Live and learn. Who knew we'd be this far in the State playoffs any? Anyone?
Maybe our new coach, Staviski, will let us work on it now.

We want PR to be first class and competitive just as others are. It's going to take some time. A field all players from around would like to play on. The field was nice Yea..?? And the Sound system... well, we just got it about 4 weeks ago. And we've been winning ever since. Best money we ever spent at this point. And we don't get a lot.

So that's about it. A little background from PR... I hope that helps.

But..., we were winning the game and had the momentum. No denying that. And in my opinion, the Pirates would have went on to win. ACR had two hits the whole game with the top of the lineup gone going into the would be 7th inning. No HR's in this game. The Pirats had a man on first with no outs in the bottom of the 6th looking to put more on the board when the downpour came about.

So, Tuesday it is. 325 on the corners, 335 left and right center gaps and a wall about 350 in the Center, give or take. It's a very nice Park. It'll be a good game. Do the kids just wait out there in LC for HR balls? Can we get ours also? JK

It is an awesome field with lights and everything including stadium seating. Field is same size for everyone so you are welcome to get your HR balls also.

TC will be ready, I promise. It may not be as easy as you think to "steal" this one. You may not have anything to lose but TC is not satisfied yet. Good luck to you, have a safe trip and be ready to play at least 7 innings.

 

Thanks Tatortot! Will do. And best of luck to you guys also. Ya'll have had a tremondous season. I know your SR's and Teamates must be proud. And as you said, no one wants the season to end just yet. Maybe some of the Boosters from PR will come out and see the things we need at our park that TCR has. This could actually prompt their decision to take action on much needed items with this run in the playoffs.

Again, best of luck to TCR. See you guys Tuesday. And win or lose, PR has been very excited to be a part of this Tournament. Hopefully this won't be the last you'll hear from Porter Ridge for years to come.

TC coach is the Rex Ryan of the NCHSAA....
