You are correct...reading more on the game...I believe this was a delayed game and not suspended too.

However, it's getting spinned by the coach and others, it's a breakdown with the Reynolds leadership and a lesson learned and easily fixed for the future. All weekday playoff games at 7 regardless, and all games must meet the 7-inning requirement unless 10-run rule. (If rained out on a Friday night, have a set time for when Saturday games would begin.) Before the season begins, teams without lights need to designate an area field and two backups (just in case) that they would play on if they make the playoffs. Why have a state association if they dump these kinds of thorny decisions on the schools, administrators and coaches. They need to step up or just let the coaches form their own state association.

I play for Porter Ridge and we were winning 1-0. we were in the bottom of the 6th inning when the umpires pulled us off the field and told us to put the tarp on. but like i said i heard that the ACR coach did not want to make another trip down here. so idk if thats an agreement or not but thats what i heard.

Best solution I have heard yet! Good job "grahamcracker". On a positive note, Kannapolis coach Empsy Thompson received a call last Tuesday from NWC coach Joe Hubbard asking if our field was playable. (Well thats the story I've heard) The field at NWC was getting soaked and the team from West Iredell had already left and it's about 1-1/2 to 2 hours by bus. Well our field at Kannapolis has the ability to shed water, so with a little work by a select few, it was ready to become the home field of one of our most bitter rivals. Hats off to both coaches for working together to find a solution and although West Iredell lost, saving them the trouble of getting to a site that is unplayable and forcing them to return the following day. This is the 3rd time NWC has won on our field this year, however this one made me proud of how people can work together for a common goal...BASEBALL!!!!:fan_wave2:

What if Reynolds coach contests conditions after 4 innings, we all know if we catch "blue" off guard they tend to agree. Why is a NCHSAA rep not present at each game?

Get over it but fix it for the future

Respectfully, it is what it is. The game is over. BUT, the "Asociation" must address it AND COMMUNICATE the revised rule or clarify the existing. It is a shame that nobody in authority from the NCHSAA has stepped up to explain and confirm that the decision was correct OR.....acknowledge the error and commit to fix.

The Reynolds coaches definitely did want to make the drive down to play again. Thats why they're so upset is they told the umps how can we make up the game. and the umpires just said its over.

by no means in this situation is porter ridge to fault. its the state

The NCHSAA says a protest committee must be appointed at each game, it is a 5 person group made up of representatives from both schools. I am quite sure both coaching staffs was aware of this. They had an option.

The NCHSAA had to know they were playing at 5 PM with no lights because in the handbook it states:
Game time will be 7:00 p.m, unless mutually agreed upon to play at 6:00 p.m.
Any other exceptions must be approved by the NCHSAA.
