    Shocked

That Apex-Holly Springs score is a real shocker. Does anyone know who pitched for Holly Springs tonight? If Rodon took the mound, then that really adds to the "wow" factor of that game.

    Question Answered

I just saw on the N&O website that Rodon was the losing pitcher tonight for HS. I think this was his first loss of the season. I just don't know if he started or took the loss in relief. I did see where Apex scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game away.

Manning started and pitched the first 3 allowing 1. Rodon pitched 3 2/3 and allowed 9 runs including a grand slam. Mackey 1/3.

Cary can now be added to this conversation with a new coaching staff. While they didn't win, they kept their team in virtually all their games. I think all the strong programs in the Tri-9 (coaching) have now been mentioned.

That is quite surprising that Rodon gave up as many runs in one game as he had given up all year. I seem to remember that he had completely shut Apex down just a few games ago. Just goes to show anyone can have an off night.....that is part of what makes baseball so great.....anything can happen on a given night.

I am however not surprised to see the Tri-9 with two teams in the East Final 4. That conference has to be the deepest in the eastern part of the state in my opinion. It just goes to show that playing strong competition game-in-game-out during your conference season pays off in the playoffs. Congrats to Lee County and Apex for advancing this far.

While we may be ONE of the deepest around, you gotta give the same credit (more actually) to the Mideastern Conference. They had 4 in the Final 8 of the east. Which leaves 2 from the Mideast on the top half vs 2 from the Tri9 on the lower half.

I think we'll see the Mideastern win the east because they have a couple big dogs left, but it still says a lot about the depth of the Tri-9 for its 5th and 6th place teams from the regular season to be in position for an eastern championship.

I guess I am a little biased being from the Raleigh area and having played so many teams from the Tri-9 this year. Those two conferences definitely dominated the east this year with 7 of the final 8 teams. It should be a heck of a battle this week.

Top Seeds Didn't Fare Too Well In The East!

Lee County (5 seed) vs. Apex (Wildcard)
Laney (4 seed) vs. Rose (3 seed)

I guess that makes Rose the favorite now. (Yea, I said it. It wouldn't be the playoffs if you couldn't hear some sandbaggin coming out of G-Vegas):drink:
Rose is the adopted Down-East team. Laney is really Far-eastern, Apex is Mid-east, & I have no idea where Lee County is.:curtain:

You have to give Rose credit for being right there in the thick of it year in and year out. Heck of a program down there.
