I'd like to hear more about the players for both sides. Who are the players to watch?

Well at this point i can only give input on the PR players, Since i play on the team. Our #1 AND #2 pitchers have been on fire. Luke Kwasnik and Josh Roeder. And all through the playoffs our lineup has been getting the job done all the way through. If there are more specific things youd like to know feel free to ask .

being an acr fan and seeing both teams play, no way should porter ridge be able to keep up with tc's bats. if tc plays its game it will score about 12 runs.

Well if you were at the ACR vs.. PR game which it sounds like you were, you havent seen our full potential with the bats. From what i have heard it should be an extremely good game and i hope that both teams come out to play to their best ability.

Dont know anything about PR, but as everyone has found out you will have score a lot of runs to beat TC. Price, Maceithan, Wright, Fernandez are first four hitters and all hitting 425 or better. Ledford, Greene, Wrightenberry all have 5 or more hr's hitting 7,8,9, so you can see that top to bottom this lineup can score.

Big dont take me wrong here....but the homeruns dont mean all that much when you play on a smaller field like TC plays on...Now please dont take me the wrong way because im not trying to be rude or talk down upon any of the players because im not, we all know that TC is a stud team, but when you play on a field that is 350 in the corners and 400 in dead center like we do HR's mean nothing. If our field was like TC's many of the teams in Union County would have the numbers that TC has

PR's top offense weapon is Chris Martin, their 6-foot, 2-inch senior catcher, who was fourth in Union County hitting around .500. He also had been a leader in extra base hits, with 7 doubles. No one else appears to be hitting over .400 or had at least 20 rbis during the season. Shutting him down would improve TC's chance at winning although other hitters have picked it up toward the end of the season, with 12 hits in its first round victory against Mooresville.

    One-two punch
As mentioned earlier in the thread, they have a couple of junior strikeout specialists (top 12 in the county), who are a one-two punch with Luke Kwasnik (5-3, 2.32 ERA) as a starter and 6-foot righty Josh Roeder often in a relief/closer role although they started Roeder in the conference and district finals. Roeder held overconfident Reynolds to two hits in those infamous six innings of shutout baseball. They had three additional shutouts toward the end of the season including Kwasnik's 13K domination of Sun Valley in the first round of the conference tournament

    5th inning magic
They're capable of the big inning, especially recently, when they sent 10 batters to the plate and scored six runs to rally from a 5-0 deficit against Weddington in the 5th inning of its conference championship. They did lose 7-6. They also scored six runs in the 5th inning in coming back in the second round of the playoffs against Mallard Creek, which had been winning 5-1. No lead is safe, and they took advantage of errors in those two innings. (Interestingly, Kwasnik pitched the entire game even though the first six batters of the game reached base before the first out was recorded.) The 5th inning was also pivotal in the Sun Valley win, when 10 batters came to the plate and broke a 0-0 tie.

    Scoring
They've averaged about 6 runs a game in scoring 129 runs but 50 of those runs came in four games including a doubleheader sweep of Harding on the final day of the season, 15-0, 11-0. They've also had nine games where they scored three or less runs including a 10-0 loss to Myers Park, which lost to TC 11-3 in the district finals Saturday. However, clearly that was a different PR team at the time when they were just 1-4.

    Good luck to both teams.

    PR @ TCR

TC was one of, if not the best team Myers Park played this year. They play good aggressive baseball, they are well coached, and play very good defense. They really run the bases too. We haven't seen Porter Ridge in a while but they struggled when they came out to our place but I think they ran out of pitching. We never saw the one or two. They are a different team now but not sure if they have the offense or pitching to hang. The Thomas kid for PR can really hit and I have no idea why ACR pitched to him with a runner on second, two outs with the game tied 0-0 in the 5th. He already hit a double over the left fielders head on a hanging breaking ball and by pitching to him they allowed him to knock in the only run of that game. No way I'm letting that kid beat me. I'll take my chances with the next guy.

If Porter Ridge can hang around early, stay in the game, and keep that potent offense off balance then they have a chance. If Roberson comes out and puts a bunch on the board, they are too good of a team to leave the door open.

    Good luck to both teams.
