Never been to Five County Stadium. I'm sure it's nice, but I'd rather see these games played in a smaller venue. ER has played at the Intimidators Stadium and it is nice also, but being in such a large place seams to take away from the game when the stands are 80% empty. Also, it seams like for the most part, the Eastern winners kind of have the home field advantage each year with the games being played in Raleigh or Zebulon. Greensboro is much closer to being in the center of the state and there are several great stadiums in that area or they could rotate, having them one year in Raleigh and one year in Charlotte.
Rowan will bring a ton of fans, but would likely have 3 to 4 times more if closer. Hunt has 25 miles to drive. What an advantage.

    Tale of the tape:

    East Rowan 29-2 Hunt 26-5
    Offense
    Runs for ER - 255 Hunt - 265
    Runs Allowed ER - 83 Hunt - 118
    OBP ER - .443 Hunt - .441
    Slg ER - .498 Hunt - .580
    SB ER - 54 Hunt - 49

    Pitching
    ERA ER - 1.75 Hunt - 3.17
    OBA ER - .206 Hunt - .257
    OBP ER - .308 Hunt - .351
    ER ER - 53 Hunt - 87
    HRA ER - 5 Hunt - 9
    BB ER - 100 Hunt - 89
    K's ER - 260 Hunt - 139

Looks like a very even matchup. Hunt slight advantage on offense, ER advantage on Pitching. Hard to say defensively. Number of errors doesn't really tell a complete story on defense. I've not got to see Hunt play, but ER is as solid as they come on defense.

One note.. ER won the Western Region without using their two main starters (Allen and Gobbel) that had pitched the majority of the innings throughout the year. Allen was nursing a sore arm and Gobbel had piched against NW Cabarrus on Wednesday and was being saved if a game 3 was needed. Both should be well rested and ready to go.

Looks like a great series for the state championship. Go Mustangs!!!!

Sappgators, are you simply "hoping" that Thomas Allen will pitch for East Rowan, or have you heard that he will pitch from a reliable source?

Because IMO his making only one appearance in the last 3 weeks (which lasted less than 30 pitches) sounds like more than being sore, that (to me) does not sound good. I wish him the best.

karlrocket, hate I'm going to miss you again this year, but boss has plans to drag me to the lake next weekend. Told Boxman yall keep us informed real good now and I'll be checking in.

Had conversation with Thomas and his Mother at the W. Regional games. Both said he would be ready. I can tell you this, the coaches won't put him in if there's any issue with his arm. I know he wants to pitch more than anything. He's a senior and has been the anchor for the pitching staff all year. It'll be a shame if he can't pitch. If not, we've got others that have proven themselves this year and they can get the job done. Gobbel and Troutman are two other seniors. Will Johnson and Avery Rodgers are two Juniors and Robbins and Bost are two Sophomores. Hightower could start any of them and they'd give us a shot to win.
