in that particular case with a perfect game on the line.....

..........a bang bang close call should have been EASY to make.

    OUT. let the celebration begin.

you see it all the time in the 9th inning. the strike zone gets really large.

My zone is always large so I don't care if it's the 1st or the 9th. If you watch a game done by professionals the zone is pretty much the same size throughout the game.

    just saying

sometimes you see in the last inning the blue likes to ring 'em up with a bit less regard for the actual strike zone, especially in a game that's not close.

    Move on

maybe we should do as the pitcher did during the game and since then - he has been a good model of sportsmanship (getting a new car helps).

You may have seen that done EOR but as I said, most guys try to keep it the same. I will say that if I have a big blowout and we're in the 6th or 7th inning I'm going to let both coaches know I will open it up more.

Just want to say that this has been awesome thread! Very informative and it's great to hear the different perspectives. Threads like this are why I love this board.

One Putt, I respect your son for preferring the tangible things that determine football recruiting rather than the subjective stuff that determines baseball recruiting. I could not agree with you more on that, that's 100% correct.

That same subjectivity in baseball recruiting was why I chose to hang 'em up and focus on academics and my future career in college. I was a good high school player but not good enough to be recruited by the elite schools. I was the type of guy who could have played ball at a low D1 place based upon my performance in actual games (and clutch situations, which Impact tournaments can't measure), but I wasn't the kind of guy that was going to wow you at a showcase with a cannon for an arm or anything like that.

For that reason, my only opportunities were at schools that didn't meet my academic needs so I chose to come to Carolina. I love it in Chapel Hill (best 2 years of my life so far) but boy do I miss playing the game! Your son has a great opportunity at Richmond - best of luck to him.
