Lot of "facts" flying around on this one, let me clear up a couple regarding the Charlotte Cobras. Yes, they are an older 18u team but have 3 players w/ college experience, not 7. All three have been on this team for a couple of years and one since she was 8yrs old. They did not take anyone's 'spot'. This team has great chemistry and all the players get along extremely well. Why would they look anywhere else if they are eligible? Those 3 are playing in the summer to stay in shape and/or compete for playing time on their college teams. Many of the other players have signed for this fall and are also playing to go into the fall sharp. There are a couple of players unsigned and are getting a ton of playing time as there are only 12 on the roster. They are getting plenty of looks since they play on an experienced team that already has several relationships w/ college coaches. The team is from the Charlotte area. The tourney was in Rock Hill. No travel expenses, no brainer. The goals of this team are to 1. Have fun, 2. Qualify for ASA Nationals and 3. Get the unsigned players some good looks, not necessarily in any order. Bringing in college talent for the sake of winning some showcase games is not what this team is doing. They are out there to have fun w/ their friends of many years. What a novel concept.

With the potential of 4 classes of HS players to choose from and only one class of eligible college kids.....I doubt the college kids wll outnumber the HS kids in 18u.

As for playing instead of a potential recruit.....there is a difference between a college freshmen who has been part of a team for several years and bringing in a ringer.

Now if the age requirements for 18u are ignored......that creates a little different situation.

...No dog in this hunt but as ya'll know I've got my opinion.......I could care less how many college signees or how many first year college players are on a team....wait, I do care....I want to play them!
CMon folks so what if you lose, so what if you win, just being on the field for fun is not what makes a player better.

What would you say if you were a college coach?......1. I watched this game and team A won 18-0 against a team of kids who were over matched....and I've got to have the winning pitcher on my team and that kid that went 4-4.
    2. I watched this game of a few college kids, team A, and team B had a couple of kids who bowed up and hit the ball well but it was caught. Also I saw a pitcher stand toe to toe with kids older and more experienced than she and I like what I see.

    Bam!

    This one is a no-brainer!

    Raise the bar!

Definitely a win/win situation for the younger girls.

Noticed that this will be the last year college players will be allowed to play in the Dynamite Classic.

im not complaining about it...we played a very good game against the cobras and only 3 of our 12 players have to play 18U. We did very well for a 1st year 18U team. now the cardinals bringing in the JR from PC was "bringing a ringer" and thats OK too...but they had 13 kids in the dugout...didnt really need her.

its a showcase and our girls showed good against the highest level of pitching and for that we are glad.

That's waht we do. The team doesn't have to be the best team out there, because if we are playing against the best talent it only make my DD better. She'd rather face the best pitching then play on the same team.

From day one three years ago after she went to her first Navas clinic, "...Dad, I've got to start playing against talent much better than me to get better..." And having a nice hitting instructor in CD helps too.

Just keep swinging away. You think it's never going to come, but it does.

We were looking at some team fliers....grades ladies, grades!
