You don't have to be a Yale alum to know that you don't want to play for a team that won 3 games. I believe at least one of those was against a junior college. Yeah, my feathers are ruffled, I sure wish my kid was playing for a team that wins 3 games a year.:4:

I guess three games are better than zero . no ruffled feathers I thought this board was for the better of the game of softball not to bash the girls. I think that there are some talent on this team at WCU.They are also room for improvement either in coaching or position players.

You are wrong Gator Dad I don't have a kid, I am an alumni who loves the game of softball and was very happy when they started that program back up. I have been a faithful fan from afar for many years and I can't stand to see what has happened to a winning program. You are correct it is easy to blame the coach but who else should be blamed for a program that has gotten worse each year to the point of becoming the laughing stock of the SoCon. How many years does it take for a "new" coach to finally get ahold of a team. Do you not think that over 24 players leaving that program in a 4 year span is not excessive? I lost count at 24 but it may be up closer to 30 now. This number does not include the ones that have graduated. Should that not tell someone in the AD office something is wrong. It is a shame that good talent gets wasted away all because of a Coach and AD.

Bashing athletes or coaches, hmmm let's see.... COACHES!!!

I have not seen anyone bashing the athletes, except one comment which said to wipe the slat clean. Personally; after dealing with the coaching staff and the Athletic office, it is clear to me (and I have been coaching select ball for almost 15 years plus years now, just to let you know)... the clarity is the AD should wake up and his wonderful coaching staff (thats who I am bashing by the way) SHOULD BE FIRED and the school should start over... with the athletes they have plus a few....

More to come later, chew on that for awhile!

Put the blame where it needs to be.

In my opinion it is the AD Dept. that is to blame.
They had a very good coaching staff there and won their conference.
When you make promises you need to stick by them. Just look at the football program. Let's not bash the coaches, they are doing all they can to recruit with what little money they receive. My DD was being recruited by Smith and pulled out when they left and was the best decision she has made. You also have to remember that the #1 pitcher also left the program at that time.
Just have faith and we will see how next season progresses.

    P.S.
Also it is easy for travel ball coaches to throw in their 2 cents when they really don't know whats going on. Remember this is thier job and they are doing the best they can.

Should we write on how you perform at you job!!!!!!!

    JMHO!!!!!!

    On the job performance

As I wrote; I blame both the coaching and the AD's office... as for being a travel ball coach, I went to three Nationals with three different teams (did not win, but still coached three teams to compete there).

This is on the brink of ridiculous, we are all bantering the same things. Ultimately; the AD's office and their coaching staff are the problems... oh, and waiting for this next season... that will end up being as riotous as this year. Other than those kissing the coaches rear-ends, I do not think any of the girl's respect these two coaches.

I am not on the stand here and neither are you... as for my job performance, evaluations are completed annually and if we perform poorly, we are disciplined accordingly... I take my job seriously, the coaches should as well. I am not criticizing or judging any parent or player on this this forum, please do not criticize or judge me... hec, we do not even know one another.

Thank you! Good luck to those who are appealing for their scholarships and or the right to play the sport they (and their parents) LOVE, I hope they receive some solid support!:Woot_Emoticon:

    from my own experience

I have read all the comments as they have been swarming in and never wanted to reply. But I think it's time... I can first off tell you I have experience with this program, NOT AS A PARENT. Everyone can make all the comments they want but I know you haven't played for this program or dealt with the Athletic Dept. So let me make this nice and simple for you. It is the coaching staff and it is the Athletic dept. Yes there may be recruits that are not D1 material but with a coach that knows the game or how to work with their athletes I'm sure they could make them decent enough to make plays and hit the ball and well pitch the ball of course (seeing that that is a definite problem). The coaching staff has money to recruit they just don't use it right or look in the right areas. Maybe if they left the state of North Carolina more often, not to say they haven't but its slim to none. And to answer the question of the entire bulletin, NO THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO HOPE FOR WESTERN UNTIL THERE IS NEW COACHING THAT KNOWS THE FREAKING GAME! It's really a simple concept, if you don't know the game how can you coach? You can't!!!! I am seeing that most of the comments made on here protecting this coaching staff are probably parents of players that know they made a mistake sending their child to Western but are hoping things change. How about you stop arguing, sucking up for your daughter and just face the facts, this program is horrible and it needs more parents and athletes to speak up!!!! Disagree with me if u want but I KNOW YOU AREN'T PLAYING FOR THIS PROGRAM so maybe you should pay a little more attention and tell your daughters to stop sucking up!

Heck, I am just as qualified as you, I coached the same team in 3 national championships in 3 years, didn't win a damn thing, but boy we had fun. Bet you did too. But it was baseball and I have been waiting 7 years to find a spot to brag about it. Thanks techmo, go back to your games on the computer.

    AD

I've been told that since WCU lost their Womens Head Soccer Coach (Female) and the Womens Head Tennis Coach ( Female) was let go that the Softball Coach ( Female) would be retained because of Minority issues that would make the AD look bad in the title IX compliance, unfortantly the Softball program will suffer due to the politics that run Athelitic Departments.

you are absolutely right about this part as well. therefore the good players will continuously be leaving the team and the program will get even worse.
