Are you folks serious with this stuff?
I may be laughed at for being this gullible, but it sounds like you are serious about a coach pitching. Please just say "gotcha" and I'll take the laugh on me...

I would not believe it if I did not see it for myself. This is the truth. I looked at this weeks tournament and see that this Twister team is playing at Western Carolina. They will be playing 15u and 16u teams. I wonder if they will pitch this guy against the 15u team to see if he can do better against them. All teams that play them should look out for this Bush league stuff. I sent a message to Impact baseball but got no response. This tells me that all they care about is getting there entry fee.

Who cares if the twisters put in a coach into pitch. If you have a great team you should be able hit him and scouts would notice. My question are you affraid to play against a good pitcher or he might not have been that good. My point is some of these kids get put on a pedestal as the best and reality are they? Who cares what pitcher they bring out hit the ball.

The DB's have a fine organization. AP does a good job. But they are not invincible. My younger son's team opened up with a double header against them this year when the showcase season started and shut them out the first game and the 1st 4 innings of the 2nd game. Then our coach pulled some kids and gave some kids a chance to pitch that don't pitch often and the DB's won the 2nd game.

Going into the game I was praising the DB's to all our parents. We are a new showcase team and it was all new to most of our parents. I know the DB's from my oldest son and I told our parents we were probably in for an awakening. That the DB's were pretty talented. Maybe they are but they weren't on their game that day. I knew they were in trouble when they couldn't get a run across and twice in a row with runners on 1st and 3rd they tried to get the guy on 1st in a rundown and get the runner from 3rd to score. I thought to myself, when was the last time a DB team had to resort to that play to score a run in a meaningless showcase game?

BTW, my son's team is The High Point University Panthers. The boys are coached by two of the HPU assistant coaches, one coach and one grad assisatnt. It has been a wonderful experience so far. The kids really respond to the coaches and the instruction and practices are top notch. I realize some people here don't think showcase teams need to practice but it's been wonderful for our kids. My son has learned a ton. The coaches are a good compliment to his HS coaches.

This year I have watched some legion. There are some good players out there but personally I don't think the depth is there compared to showcase. A quality showcase program just appears to have more depth than a quality legion team. I really noticed the difference on the mound. I've seen some very weak pitching in legion. I've also seen some good pitching. I just don't think the depth is there.

Just because AP did not respond doesn't mean all he cares about is the money. If I was a betting man I bet AP addresses the issue with the coach/team in question. Don't take this the wrong way but AP probably shouldn't address the issue with you. It's a matter between him and the other coach.

I THINK HIS PROBLEM IS WHY WOULD YOU PUT IN A GUY THAT IS 26 YEARS OLD,WHO'S HAD HIS TIME WITH SO CALLED SHOWCASE. THE GUY IS THE COACH'S SON,WHICH IS PROBABLY NOT PAYING ANYTHING THAT IS TAKING TIME AWAY FROM A KID WHO IS PAYING AND NEEDING TO GET LOOKED AT,NOT WORRING ABOUT IF YOU CAN HIT HIS PITCHING OR NOT

Look guys, some people love to attack anything and everything...some may be deserving, but before you do make sure you have the facts straight and make sure it is relevant.

How do you know that the team in question didn't run out of pitchers and were ready to forfeit or quit that last game? How do you know that they didn't talk about this with the db coaches and they agreed to allow it to happen so their kids could play more innings? I question this happened without prior knowledge. AP can be discriminant in selecting teams for his tourneys and something like this wouldn't be worth the risk without prior consent.

If this turns out to be the case that was agreed upon, I salute the young man for helping both teams get more at bats.

And speaking in defense of the Twisters, I have never met the coach (the dad), but I have heard good things about him from trusted sources.

As far as Legion vs Showcase, this has been discussed for all 9 years of TBR. There is no reason not to play both. Most legion teams now are dominated by committed seniors and returning college players--it's great baseball and serves a purpose. Showcase does, too, but just like everything it has been somewhat diluted because of the number of teams. You will find great ones, average one's and poor one's. You will find great instructions, poor instructions and no instructions...but regardless of each team's situation, what has been accomplished is 12-15 more guys have an opportunity to play baseball this summer...and that ain't a bad thing.
