I just have to give a big "Well Done!" to my team for their performance in winning the Colorado Sparkler 16U Tournament! These girls played great all week going 9-1 while defeating teams from California, Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. We made it through the winners bracket undefeated and won the championship game with great pitching, excellent defense, timely hitting including a solo home run by Taylor Woods in the bottom of the 6th to break a 2-2 tie game!

I beleive we outscored opponents something like 58 to 12. We also hit 10 home runs between 4 different players! I am so proud of this young team as they get better each time they step on the field.

It was also fun to watch coaches and parents from some of the west coast and Midwest teams get very upset when a little team from NC sends them to the losers bracket. Teams from NC just aren't supposed to do that...it must have been the umpires or the field or something....or it could be just NC girls can play with the West Coast teams and others from around the country!

Thanks also for all the texts and emails from everyone congratulating us. These girls play hard and never give up. Our tournament win and the excellent performances of the Cardinals- Chandler, TFS, Comets and Lady Blues who all performed well in Colorado goes to all of the NC teams by letting them know NC girls can play with anyone in the country!

Now off to Florence for the Hot Times!

    Ben
