Just wondering if any of you guys have heard of these people? My son, who is a junior at Davie County, recently got a letter in the mail from them. The name of the tournament is the "King Kamehameha Baseball Classic" and will be played in Hawaii June 17-24th. The price is pretty steep so if anyone has ever been to one of these or know someone who has, would love to hear any opinions or feedback. Also, does anyone know of any other NC players who might have received this letter? Thanks guys!

It sounds like a fun trip, but is it worth it? I guess it depends on the individual.

I have nothing against the schools they list as attendees, but I'm not sure I would cross 3/4 of the world to gather their interest:

    Coach College State
David Langston Northwest Shoals Community College Alabama
    Tony Roepcke Lyon College Arkansas
Gary Addington Otero Junior College Colorado
Brad Niethammer Webber International University Florida
Craig Young Middle Georgia College Georgia
Bill Fratto Oakton Community College Illinois
Greg Roberts University of Saint Francis Indiana
    Matt Tramel Bethany College Kansas
    Mike Evans Bellevue University Nebraska
Jason Rathbun Herkimer Community College New York
    Tim Mead Walsh University Ohio
Roger Ward Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Oklahoma
Ron Bradley Rogers State University Oklahoma
    Mike Patroski Lackawanna College Pennsylvania
Matt Guiliano University of Sioux Falls South Dakota
    Mark Brew Lee University Tennessee
    Harvey McIntyre Blinn College Texas
    Matt Podjenski Navarro College Texas
Guy Simmons Frank Phillips College Texas
Jim Durham San Jacinto College Texas
    Mike White Bluefield College Virginia

    DD Got Invitation Too

My DD plays softball, we received ours today. Looks like a good time, yes a bit expensive, but what isn't? Unfortunately were at the Dynamite Classic then the ASA State during this trip.

I found, during my son's high school days, that when he got these types of invites that if I went to the hsbaseballweb site and asked if others had had any experience with these programs/organizations, I'd get a pretty quick breakdown on what the deal was.
Obviously you can get a lot of info here at TBR, but hsbaseballweb gives you more of a national take on things. What usually happened was we found out was these were just real pricey camps, at cool locations, but of no real value in terms of exposure or recruitment... buyer beware!
We are lucky around these parts to have Impact and the like to give our kids the chance to showcase their talents close to home.

Making awesome memories if nothing else

Doesn't hurt to do a fun tournament like this at one of the best places in the world. Make it a vacation as well BUT go only if you have spare money!

    You will find

that it has only just begun. What are you looking to get out of the camp? Instruction , exposure ? You will not find any better camps than the ones the college programs right here in your back yard put on. If your looking for exposure to college coaches then you dont have to go to Hawaii to do it. All of these business's have mass mailing lists. Why go out of state for something like this and spend that kind of money unless you just have the xtra cash and want to take a trip. The return on this type of investment as far as baseball goes is zero.

    Re: Elite Sports

My son got his letter the other day as well. Although his mother was excited (she loves to travel), I was less than impressed. He has been getting several of these a year since is 9th grade year. I agree with the earlier poster who asked about the purpose of such a trip. I also agree that there are plenty of quality camps, showcase events, etc. right here in North Carolina. I readily admit having a bias in favor of our great State of North Carolina and the opportunities we offer.

My son was asked to play at the 2010 Baseball tournament in Hawaii with Elite Sports, so we sent in the $2775.00 for him to go on this trip. Two months before he was to leave I contacted Elite sports with the fact that we had not received the team uniform and flight information that we where to receive in March. I was told that they are using a new vender, and that he would receive it when he got to Hawaii. I went out and purchased new clothes, shoes, bat bag, and suitcase for my son to go on this trip. Two weeks before he was to leave I received an email, stating that there was not going to be a baseball trip, and that I would receive a full refund. I waited 30 days after then called Elite Sports. They stated that they had many parents upset, but the checks had been mailed out. I called a week later after not getting a check, and Elite sports said that only half the checks had been mailed out, but I will get mine next week. I then waited...Two more weeks, but still no check. I was then informed by Terry Harrison that he would fed ex a check on June 21st out to me. Now as July 6th 2010 I still have no check, and he is no longer answering phone calls, or emails. I feel sick about this. I am glad that some have received full refunds, but where is mine.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. Unfortunately your experiences has become far too common.

If you do receive your check, please kneel to the ground with it thanking God.

I bet if you ask for a name of some parents they sent a refund to, you will get a reply like this: "Ahh...errr.....ummm.....I'm sorry we can't give out personal information......"
