    RM scores all 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Chad Whitehead threw 8 1/3 and was awesome. He came out up 5-0 with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

    Kinston 11
    Wilson 4 or 6

    Have heard both scored reported but either way Kinston wins.

    Just talked to Baseball Britt: Rocky Mount moves on after beating Edenton 17-3. (Just before a huge thunderstorm at Hicks Field)

    Congratulations Britt, I knew after you made that pretty successful western swing, that we "might" be hearing from you guys again before the season is over. Best of luck in next round.

    Kinston moves on to face Rocky Mount in the Area I East final. After starting the season 2-5 while Hunt HS advanced to the 3A final, Wilson finishes 13-9, its fewest wins since 2003.

    Cary 12 Garner 2

    Game ended on a home run by Dillon Rudio in the seventh, but it never felt like a blowout. Garner left the bases loaded inning after inning and ended up with about as many hits as Cary. Defense came up big for Cary as well as clutch pitching when the bases were juiced.

    Cary moves on to round 3 against the winner of Clayton and Apex.
