Low to mid 80s is what I've heard

 

Matt Orth is 15 years old. He was a starter on the SW Guilford Varsity team this past season. Matt had to pitch to and hit against 16, 17, and 18 year olds and had very good success doing so. We are in the Piedmont Triad 4-A Conference which comprises some very, very good teams. Matt has worked very hard to perform at the level he is at.

 

Yes, I dislike when people do that. Just trying to stir the pot. Doesn't happen very often, but it does slip through every now and then. Most on here know better than to do that.

Congrats to Matt Orth. Obviously, he's a very talented young man. I'm looking forward to reading about his success over the next 2-3 years.

They should be graduating in 2012, but parents held them back in school for sports only, not academics. Children are held back for many reasons. It could be that they were physically very small, immature for their age, parents planning a move, momma couldn't let go of jr. etc etc. The reason doesn't matter, it is done and they are in the class that they are assigned. In SC it commonplace to hold back 7th or 8th graders with football potential for football. My son will be 6 when he starts his sr year in a few months and 17 when he starts college. I wish I had the forsight to hol him out for a year. It would probably help him athletically, but there were some maturity issues when he was younger. My personal opinion is if you can do anything to benefit your child...do it. Isn't that what parents are for?
