I have been told and it has been verified that Ray has passed from this world to the next. I would like everyone to please observe a moment of silence and say a prayer for Ray and especially for his family. I considered Ray to be a founding father of fastpitch softball in the carolina's, and a fine southern gentleman who cared a lot about his kids. My thoughts go out to his wife and their childred.

Our thoughts and prayer go out to the Chandler family and friends. May God be with them during this time.

I never personally knew Coach Chandler. I do know some of his players and have always heard such great things about him and his influence on fastpitch here in NC. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Carolina Cardinals family as well.

I am so sorry to hear of this, I never knew Ray only of his name and reputation. All of his family, including the softball side, will be in out prayers. Such a loss.

    very sad to hear...

I recall sitting down twice with Ray several years ago. We talked about the journey... and I listened.

He left me with perhaps the best piece of advice I ever received. In honor of his memory I will share it again here for everyone else to read:

Do not let softball choose what daughter your college will attend.

We didn't Ray and we made the right choice. Thank you.

now that this has hit the papers and with Ric's blessing, we will repost this so people can pay their respects to a pretty darn good coach and heck of a nice guy.

....Ray Chandler was one of THE pioneers of NC fastpitch travel ball. He will leave behind a HUGE loving family of loved ones, coaches, teams, players ...AND kids who never knew him but are benefitting from all he did for the game.

I know that the Chandlers are proud of Ray......

    ..........and so are we!

    God Bless!
