Fall Catching Camp (Updated--New Start Date)

Due to numerous requests I have changed the dates and length of the camp.

Sammy Serrano will be conducting a 4 week catching camp for ages 8-12 and 13 and up beginning October 30.

Sammy is the Head Coach at the Charlotte Latin School. For the past three summers, Sammy has worked as a hitting instructor, catching instructor, and evaluator for USA Baseball, and the 18U National Team. Prior to coaching at Charlotte Latin, Sammy was a two-time 1st Team All American at Stetson University and 2nd round draft pick (1st catcher selected) by the San Francisco Giants in 1998. He has been the hitting and catching instructor at Stetson University and Recruiting Coordinator for UNC Greensboro.

For more information about pricing and dates, please contact Sammy at [email protected] for a printable flyer.

I must say that Coach Serrano is one of the most impressive people I've found in baseball. I would definitely recommend to any catchers in the area to take advantage of this camp. Sammy knows catching! And with his personality, he knows how to convey his instructions to the catchers so they will understand.

Since I have no affiliation with Coach Serrano, I felt I could give an honest opinion.

    Catching Instruction

This is a must for young catchers. There are very few instructors that teach catching. Coach Serrano would be right at the top of a very short list!

your son is serious about being the best catcher he can be these are the type of camps you need to make sure he attends. The most under coached position in baseball especially at the youth levels is the catchers position. Here is an opportunity for your son to get top notch instruction that he can take back with him. It is also an opportunity for the parent of the player to learn as well so your not teaching your son something the wrong way and he gets really good at doing something the wrong way.

Pitchers have pitching coaches. Hitters have hitting instructors. Catchers need individual instruction at their position for obvious reasons. Starting out doing it the right way and learning drills that can assist the young player from not forming bad habits at a young age is critical in the development of a player. This is an awesome opportunity for young players that aspire to learn the position, get better at it and for older players to pick up tips and instruction that can help them.

I strongly encourage any catcher out there that can possibly make this camp to do so.
