An A.L. Brown High School student has been killed in a car wreck.

DaJon Torrence, a senior linebacker for the Kannapolis Wonders, was killed Monday morning while driving to school. The wreck happened near the intersection of Mooresville Road and Trinity Church Road at about 7 a.m.

Torrence's brother, Darius Willis, a junior defensive lineman on the jayvee team, was injured in the wreck. He was treated at CMC-NorthEast in Concord and released.
Principal Kevin Garay said the family told him Torrence and Rice dropped their mother off at work and headed to school when the wreck happened.
Trooper T.J. Dillinger with the N.C. Highway Patrol said Torrence was driving a four-door Honda, with Willis, when the car crossed the center and hit a SUV head on. Jennifer Torres of Kannapolis was driving the SUV. She was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Torrence and Willis were transported to CMC-NorthEast, when Torrence later died.

DaJon was a great kid, who always had a smile...Please remember a special young man in your thoughts and prayers, along with his family, friends and teammates.
