The 12U Dirtbags won the South Carolina USSSA Super Nit during the weekend of 10-1/10-3. The Dirtbags went 5 and 0 and beat Power house Georgia Bandits 7-6 in a very good Championship game. The Dirtbags improved to 24 and 0 in the fall with half of their wins against 13 year old teams. The team is made up of 2017 and 2016 kids that will be attending Weddington, Myers Park, Davie, Reagan, Glenn and 4 kids going to North Davidson.

    2016s and 2017s - UGH!
I'm sure it's just me, but can't we just call 'em 12 year olds?
This stuff is out of control...

(OK, I'm squinting and I have my face covered, so let me have it :fryingpan:.)

Get ahold of yourself. Snap out of it. For God's sake, we've got to keep these 12 year olds (I mean 2016-17's) interested in baseball for 5 more years. Whatever you have to do to keep these 2016-17 grads from switching to soccer, do it. Our national pasttime is depending on you.

Anytime a North Carolina team can beat a Georgia team (in SC) is good! Keep up the good work!

We are just trying to have some fun here and keep these boys and their parents interested in baseball. We are a pretty good team, just to be 12, with about 7 boys that can hit it 260 to 290 feet, not everytime but sometimes. Some of these kids will make probably make a big impact when they make to the 9th which is only 2 years for half of the team. Mr Catcoach from what i saw this past year, you will need my lefty on your pitching staff asap.:waving:

Haha..good one Angles. That will get his attention.

Seriously, even though this is a HS board, I love reading about the young guys..and KarlRocket makes a great point. They are at the age (or close to it) where many of the young kids begin to lose interest in playing baseball. I'd like to keep those we lose to continue to enjoy watching baseball.

I hope for anyone who is involved in baseball at those ages to keep things in perspective. Let the kids have fun! It's not till they get older when they will have to take playing baseball more seriously. Right now...at 12...the only thing they should take seriously is where to eat after the game.

Congrats to the young db's! Way to beat that Ga team.

We had a really good 12 year old Babe Ruth Select team here in Wilson County 6 years ago & 6 of those guys are freshmen at various schools around the state, still playing baseball. You could tell then that they were all gonna have a chance to go on to the next level if they continued playing.

First of all, you still need to get over the the 2016/2017 monikers. That shows you're already about recruitment classes. Period.

Second, whether you realize it or not, you just got personal. That was an outright criticism of my team with," from what I saw this past year you will need..." Assuming you know who I am, if you really know anything about me, you should know that while you can criticize me ( part of the deal really), my guys - and what they are able to do or not - my guys are OFF LIMITS!

And as for what I "need...asap": I need the Lord's favor, increased wisdom, and patience with, well, "people" - and a few young men with a little talent, a little more heart, and the greatest of desires to achieve a common goal with teammates, moreso than a 25% scholarship that they could pay for six times over with all the money their parents are spending on years of showcase dues and hotel bills. And I think I have some of those kids RIGHT NOW. I wouldn't trade them! If "your lefty" fits that bill, I hope to have the opportunity to coach him some day. And more hopefully, ten or fifteen years after that, his wife can sleep comfortably beside him each night knowing she and their kids down the hall can depend on the man he has become. At that point, she probably won't care how many games he pitched when he was a tweenager.

Oh yeh, as for that group you think needs someone "asap" - ie, my team - they (the GROUP) are going to be just fine. Come on back and see them in the next few years.

Heck, most of them will transfer before they are sophmores anyway so there is no telling where they will play high school.
