Knowing that many of DD's former teammates and our friends are experiencing the beginnings of their softball careers this fall I thought starting a thread where they share their first impressions and thoughts would be appropriate.
We just returned ourselves from parent's weekend and saw Rachel play 3 games.

    Anyone care to share?

    ...impressions

saw several teams play this fall. it was uplifting to see a revitalized WCU program. this years team will surprise folks i believe; there was comradrie, communication and most of all, fun and enthusiasm in the dugout and on the field!!

    the next level

We just had our parent weekend too and that will bring an end to Fall Ball for mine. All is well, they have played three weekends in October and we have really enjoyed it so far. DD is having a blast, working hard and having some new experiences and making memories for sure. She even went 2/4 this weekend with a double! Woohoo! Here is a picture from Harvey Elmore, another Crusader parent, from Alumni weekend at BAC.

I think the biggest for me is how hard they are working. When Rachel tells me she is overwhelmed I know its a lot of work. The lifting part is particularly strenuous she says and then come spring it will be at 5 am every morning.

One of the things I have told her has turned out to be true.. that being her coach and teammates are a foundation and cornerstone she can rely upon when she has a concern or a question about the school, a class etc.

On another point I am very proud that she has finally felt like she has her arms around her Russian class and as a young lady from "Mayberry" has already gotten the public transportation schedules down so she can go anywhere she wants in a city like Boston.

First impression not good, DD not happy with commitment level by most of her teammates. School itself is fine things are going well in the classroom for her. Hopefully spring will be be better, if not she may move on.

    Our fiirst impression? GREAT!

DD has adjusted rather well to the new routine of college life and college softball. Workouts were rough to begin with but she has adjusted well with those too. The senior pitcher on the team has been nothing more than supportive and welcoming to her. (That could have easily gone in the other direction, but thank goodness it didn't. Of course, this senior pitcher {Mo Childers} is a wonderful young woman so this isn't surprising. Our high school coaches spoke very highly of her too.) The coaches are awesome. Supportive yet challenging, positive, preparing them for their next level.............LIFE. So glad she made the decision to go there. The only downside? Mom and Dad not having their DD at home anymore. We are so grateful that she's happy with her choice and in a positive environment. Thank you, Upstate!
