There will be some amazingly talented players going at it from these 4 states this weekend. This is a WOOD BAT event.

 

Great first day at this tournament although the rosters look slightly different than posted for all teams due to no shows. NC 11's showed alot of determination coming back from a 0-5 deficit going into the fith to tie it up and go on to win. Doesn't or didn't the SC starting LHP play for the Canes? I can see why they recruited him out of SC.

The kids really got after it today for some braggin rights. Super Event. Thanks to Michelle Hill and Ronnie Ezzell for doing a great job with the National Anthem and Gold Bless America songs. The radar gun board provided by the South Carolina team was awesome for everyone in the Stadium to see the pitching speeds.

The pitchers for South Carolina 2011 did plenty of damage to the wood bats in the game against North Carolina 2011:

Josh Clark (West Forsyth-Wingate) got sawed off on this big swing.

Brad Elwood (Piedmont-UNCC) steals second before scoring the only North Carolina 2011 run in the Gold Medal game against Virginia 2011. Brad also hosed 2 runners at the plate from CF and RF during the weekend games.

Jordan Ramsey (North Davidson-UNCW) had the honor of getting things started with the first pitch for North Carolina 2011 vs South Carolina 2011.

 

This was a lot of good baseball on one field. I was shocked at the number of scouts and coaches in attendance. Wish it would be an annual event at Fleming, but I hear bigger things are in store. Great hospitality by Stretchy and Jeff Petty. Good to meet Redbird5 from the High School Baseball Web.
