This was a close game the whole way through. It was 14-7 for eternity. Defense gave up 2 or 3 big plays. The rest of the night they played outstanding. Burns is a beast. He has been all year. He's hands down the best defensive linemen in the conference. Probably one of the best in the state. He kept us in the ballgame. Offense just couldn't get anything going. I would have liked to have seen Cory Roberts get more carries. In my opinion, he's our best back and we rotated every series between 3 guys. We had receivers open when we did pass, Kyle just didn't have much time in the pocket tonight. Thought the 4th and 6 fake punt on their 35 really hurt us. They knew we weren't punting. We had our chances. Halfback pass and Gus is wide open, but the ball was underthrown. Should've won, but we didn't. Hats off to WC. They should and probably will beat Porter Ridge.

West Charlotte is a tough draw in round one for anybody. If you don't bring your "A" game, they are tough to beat.

Yeah 20-7 seems like a boring game, but both teams were kinda on edge most of the game. It was 7-6 until a 17 play 87 yard drive late in the 2nd quarter. A great coaching move I thought by WC was moving to the old Power I formation like Mooresville used to always run. They went up 14-7 and it was that way until halfway through the 4th quarter when there was probably the craziest punt play I've ever seen. Kinnaird went left and then stopped and punted and all the defenders were down-field. #23 I believe for WC scooped it up and there wasn't really any doubt that he was going to make it the 30 yards to the end zone. Good team from West Charlotte. Classy folks as well. I enjoyed meeting a lot of the folks over on the visitor side and they were well represented. Good luck to them the rest of the way. The people in Indian Trail need to be on their toes.

to say that Alexander beating hibriten was a fluke is ridiculous. Alexanders conference is weak and they cant help that, I think they'll pick up some tougher non-conference teams next year. (They should keep davie and mooresville IMO.) West Charlotte is in a Hell of a conference so for them to be 6-4 and come to Alexander and win doesn't surprise me at all. It was a close, hard fought ball game and if one or two plays would have went alexanders way we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

perfect example is the halfback pass that was just under thrown a little and gave the DB time to recover.

    Next Week?

It will be VERY interesting to see who wins the battle between West Charlotte and Porter Ridge. I guess after that game, we will have some basis of comparison.

Nothing against WC, or it's supporters, but I just don't feel like they are that good of a team this year. I will probably EAT THOSE WORDS in 5 days, but again, time will tell.

Not familiar with their program, but Porter Ridge has been blowing out their opponents. My money is on them to beat WC by 10+ points!

yep- i think only 3 teams had winning records in the league this year??? AC should be happy for their conference championship but its not like they had to beat quality teams to get there.....nobody has said b/c unlike last year AC fans used the QB not playing as an excuse....HHS was missing its starting full back against AC (Hunt Prestwood) and he was one of the reasons HHS was able to hang with Butler he opened a lot of holes and is also a good power runner. That said- HHS is the lone team representing the NW 3A/4A in the 2nd round...so what dont yall come out and support us on friday!!!
