Asheville Redbirds roster coming together

    for college wood bat team that was in the championship last summer

    Some of the players include -
    Freshmen

    Tyler Coan, Tusculum (Brevard), a State Games team member whose granddaddy played for the Washington Senators.

    Matt Fernandez, Haverford (TC Roberson), led American Legion Area IV in hitting .500 and had winning rbi in all-star game.

    Luke Harris, Surry Community College (Surry Central), Northwest 1A/2A All-Conference team.

    Ryan Jones, Lenoir-Rhyne (AC Reynolds), also a State Games team member and twice all-conference player.

    Kevin Price, Pfeiffer (TC Roberson), Like Fernandez, was all-conference in MAC in leading Roberson to state semi-finals.

    Walton Shepherd, Lenoir-Rhyne (Tuscola), 3-time all-conference member who also played on Little League state finals team.

    Sam Turner, UNC-Asheville (Asheville) and Ryan Woodring, North Greenville (Enka), both all-conference MAC players.

    Ethan Steible, UNC-Asheville, New Jersey recruit didn't allow earned run in 28 straight innings in American Legion.

    Sophomores

    Charles Anthony, Mars Hill (RJ Reynolds), struck out 185 in 159 innings, which set Reynolds career record.

    TJ Fussell, Montreat (AC Reynolds), 5-1 with 2.52 ERA last summer in Mountain Collegiate Baseball League.

    Colton Hansley, Lenior-Rhyne (Asheville), .346 for Lenoir-Rhyne and top 3 in Asheville High records for RBIs in season.

    William Head, Appalachian State (Asheville), set the Western North Carolina career stolen base record at Asheville.

    Daniel Hyatt, Winthrop (West Henderson), 20-0 lifetime in high school while daddy won 412 games in 19 years of coaching.

    Robbie Brewer, Winthrop, Ohio recruit was named top pitching prospect by Baseball Factory at Columbus showcase.

    Hayden Fox, Oakland University, set Michigan high school record with five pickoffs in a game.

    Juniors

    Tommy Crowder, UNC-Asheville (TC Roberson), 2-0, 3.37 ERA last summer for Redbirds.

    Klint Davis, UNC-Asheville (Franklin), 3-0 last summer for Redbirds, with 29 strikeouts in 25 innings.

    Matt Harris, Mars Hill (Surry Central), two-time all-conference in high school and all-area by the Elkin Tribune.

    David Flanagan, Montreat, South Carolina recruit is member of the all-academic conference team at Montreat.

    Tommy Reed, Montreat, Tampa recruit was second leading hitter on the Redbirds last summer.

    Eric Renegar, Brevard College, Virginia recruit hit .313 in starting 43 of 44 games for Brevard.

    Looking forward to a fun summer with some familiar faces! Now my son needs to find a job to earn some money while staying at home this summer.

    Redbirds Roster Updated

    Hey guys,

    Just wanted to let you know that the roster has been updated (as of Jan 24th) and there are a few new additions. We have added somemore local talent. It should be a fantastic summer.

    Will be tough to top last summer's great finish in reaching the championship game, but this solid group looks like it has the potential and the lumber.
