Hey, I think I know that kid. :biggrina:

Which relates to one of my favorite baseball memories. My son had some incredible coaches in youth baseball for which I will ever be grateful. Unfortunately, his high school career saw a parade of coaches come and go like a Dairy Queen drive thru.

Except for one. An assistant coach hung around for a couple of years and took my son under his wing. He became his advocate in the recruiting game, his confidant in personal struggles, and the coach willing to tell him the hard truth when he needed to hear it. I cannot tell you how much it meant to me as a father. Still does.

A wonderful story, but attribution by sharing the assistant coach's name would give some deserved credit and recognition to what sounds like a fine, fine person.
    Thanks,

I have a son that is a senior and a daughter that is a freshman. Both catch and both were hitting in the three hole for scrimmages Friday afternoon. To make things more interesting I coach my sons varsity team. WELL, I am coaching third in the first inning as my son gets up to bat and he bangs one off the left field wall. As soon as the play stops I hear the fans cheering on the softball field and my assistant coach tells me that my daughter just hit a triple for her first HS at bat off the left field wall. It was tough to concentrate on baseball, but WOW what a great feeling. [IMG]
