Not trying to start anything but I heard the JV baseball team at Wingate College is no more! Has anyone heard about this or is it just (hopefully)
    a bad rumor?

I've heard several things like they informed them they were not going to be playing any games, etc. but players could still practice with the team. I heard most of the players quit, transferred, etc. and only a few stayed on to keep working out with the varsity team. Everything I have heard is only rumor so far with none of it verified yet.

I am not a proponent of college JV teams. It serves as a moneymaker for the schools. Wingate's conference demands that they field a "developmental" team, so I'm not sure they can cancel it. It's possible they have, but it's in violation of conference rules.

    Wingate JV

Yes, Wingate has dissolved their developmental team. From what the parents heard, the university is the one who shut down the program. Not sure how that will play out if the SAC mandates a developmental team. I feel sorry for the kids who left high school thinking they were going to continue their baseball careers at Wingate, of course there is always next year. The parents have yet to hear anything directly from Coach Gregory but the varsity players reported the players were going to be red shirted.

LR has not dropped JV program

There is no truth to this. Lenoir-Rhyne has not cancelled JV baseball team.
