Recruiting is so full of surprises. I learn something new about it everyday.

Taylor is really good taking nothing away from him. The kid from SJ is only a soph. Starting catcher on varsity last year won the job over another guy that had been starting for three years. He is also very good. Interesting to see how much he has matured from his fr year. I think in the end he will end up being a big time D1 recruit if not higher. He is a big kid who had an amazing snap for his age last season.

I think Austin Lee from South Johnston is a junior this year. Really good player.

if South Johnston has two pitchers watch out they have everyone back except short and probably can replace that position. Sould be favorite.

EW needs no introcuction. Won conference last three years. Rode pitching last year, are they going to have enough pitching this year?

Sleeper Aycock, Even though they graduated 6 starters they have a good core coming back: J.Taylor, Farmer, Musselman, and Champion, Limbaugh, and Stafford for pitching. They still have three pithers off of the JV team Dubose, Pate, and C.Taylor. These three guys will fill in nicely as positional players as well. They are deep in pitching. Defense will be good.

Southern Wayne can they play at high level every game.

    NL the other Sleeper

This conference could have any of these 5 teams win it.

Triton has a couple good pitchers back from last year. They lost alot of positional players and their JV team wasn't that strong. So it will be tough for them to win the conference with the competition.

SJ is not returning hardly any players. They team last year was full of seniors. They lost 1st, 2nd, ss, rf, lf, and Dh. In all about 7 seniors graduated. The pitching core will still be there but that is it. The trojans will start Seniors at pitcher with Jernigan he also may play outfield or 1st, and the other seniors will start at 2nd, 1st and maybe third every other game. Juniors will start behind the plate and on the mound or at 3rd with Thompson and some outfield postions may be filled with juniors. The other positions will be filled with sophomores. I know sophomores will start at ss, cf, and rf. They also may get time at 3rd, lf, and maybe 1st by seasons end.

How did every fare in week 1? Most teams dont keep up date on max preps and i know the news-argus has a subscription now. I saw aycock-hunt score as well as sj-sss.

Triton was up and down in week one. The youth came out vs Cape Fear and six errors in one inning proved to be to killer. Missed cut off men and routiners have to be cut out. Very young team that has to learn from those types of mistakes, freezing weather or not. Big upset over Overhills 6-4 last night in 8. Two freshman and one soph combined and went 7-13 with 4 of 6 drove in. Freshman catcher Austin Lee is batting .625 in his first three games. Had 4 freshman and 1 soph in the lineup last night. Future is looking bright but until they mature they might see more games like they had Thursday night, espicially in such a strong conference.

    How did everyone else do?
