    EXACTLY!

Based on my experience, very few have interest in coaching a team where their daughter isn't a player. Coach Bove comes to mind but that's the only one I can think of. I'm sure there are a couple of others.

I'd much prefer an incompetent teacher to daddyball anyday.

There is no evidence to prove that. I am sure there many that would be happy to be coaches with no kids in the system or on the team.

Using a teacher in many cases is simply easier. They usually already have a bus license, they are already on the payroll, they have already been screened with a background check, they have credentials. It is just easier to use "insiders" than to find an outsider that fits the bill.

Take it up with the AD, then the principal. How is airing it on this forum going to help you or the players at all? Do your homework and make your case to the right people.

Thank you Cmmguy, I was seeking information to back up my opinion. I still did not truely get my question answered. Did something happen to make it this way or is it each county has different rules. I will address the issue with all the right people

Been there done that. You said it yourself they won't change because they might have to do something. It is easier to do it the way they do it. Airing it on forums won't help me but I refuse to sweep it under the rug like my high school tries to do. Sorry there some that are tired of hearing it and I don't blame them because there are things I get tired of hearing about too. When I get tired of reading about a specific subject instead of trying to get others to not voice their opinion I just avoid those threads.

Sometimes the change you seek takes a couple years... and maybe your own daughter wont get the benefit of your effort but if it is bad enough and you work at it, you can get it changed for the kids down the road.

Well said Jester. I am a nonteacher that coaches High school softball this is my second go around at it. I love doing it and no one else will take it. I have some good young ladies that are helping me Coach and maybe some day can take it over from me. As for good or bad. people will tell you both ways as long as i do the best i can that is all i can ask of my athletes. so smile have fun and maybe even learn a little bit about softball.

It simply is what it is. Most ADs and principals don't care about girls sports. They will fill:REDanceFdans002HL: the space with a body. My older daughter didn't have a great situation. There was alot of back biting and other issues that occurred. As fate would have it my younger daughter is in a much better situation. It is simply amazing how much better a coach can make the chemistry of a team.

Da Coach makes all the difference

I know a high school softball coach that can turn chicken crap into chicken salad. So it's all about the coach and how they get the players ready. Of course there has to be ability in this equation. Hint, he's in Davidson County.
