Wilson Fike is in a rebuilding year with one freshman, and four sophmores on varsity at this time. I believe Wilson Hunt maybe strong but the Conference Title will go through Nash County this year IMHO.

If I had to pick a winner here, I wouldn't be able to do it, but I think 3 teams will be battling for the top spot. Wilson Hunt, Rocky Mount, and Nash Central are my picks to battle for 1st place. Hunt, and Rocky Mount both lost alot of good players, but return enough to make some noise this year.

Wilson Hunt: Ches lamm, Avery Harper, Parker Lamm, Jacob Page, Cory Nygard, Deon Doubledee, and Spencer Boykin return with promising newcomers Cody Pittman, and Logan Butts moving up to the varsity. This will be a good team by years end.

Rocky Mount: Benton Moss, Thomas Berry, Matthew Berry, Taylor Clontz, and Jeremy Johnson return. Moss, Matthew Berry, and Johnson give them a good pitching rotation. They just need to find the new guys from JV to help fill the starting line-up & once again they will be good by years end.

Nash Central: May be returning more players than anybody this year, from a team that played pretty well last season. Trellis Ashley, Jeremy Sloop, Jalen Hendricks, and Dillon Moore return along w/ newcomer freshman Khalil Macklin. This team should be good!

    NN?

What has happened at Northern Nash? Seems like they used to be in that race every year...anyone have any insight? Thought they had a good feeder system...did the well go dry or what?

    What happened to Northern Nash?

You are right; they were a powerhouse every year until early 2000's. Then their jv players began showing up with ipods, ball caps sideways, pigtails, lotion, baggy jeans with boxers and rapping all the time. It got worse and worse till baseball lost them. Sad!!

Im not sure if this is too accurate of a statement. From 2006-2009 NN played in the finals a couple of times (2006 lost to S. Grandville who had May, Maynard & Luck who is in the pros), 2009 lost to E. Wayne. made the state playoffs in 2007 and 2008. NN had players like Joyner, Shannonhouse, Williams, Clark, Webb, Gay, Woodley) no particular order and forgive any mispelled names. Im not sure what is going on now-but I highly doubt the coaches would allow that sort of mess to go on.

They may be going through a talent lull, but I haven't seen any of the above.

SoutherNo1 is absolutely right on this. Northern is going thru a talent lull right now, which all programs go thru from time to time. I haven't seen anything like what has been described above either. They've got some talent on this team, like Jeremy Lucas, and they'll be back. You know, Tyler Joyners, and Tyler Clarks don't grow on trees.

Big East conference games get cranked up next week and it still looks like a 3 team race to me:

Nash Central 9-1 (loss to Rose, win over Conley)
Wilson Hunt 7-1 (wins over Aycock, EW, Holly Springs & Clayton)
Rocky Mount 7-3 (wins over Rose, SW, Forsyth CD, & Riverside)

During the first week, Rocky Mount hosts both Nash Central (3-29) & Wilson Hunt (3-31), so starting out with some big games.
