Green hope starts the season off with a 3-0 win over Athens drive. Max Povse (UNCG) and Chris Williams (NCSU) both pitched very well. The game was scorless through 4, each throwing close to one-hitters. Green hope opened the game up in the 5th with 3 runs from the bats of Jonathan Grudee and Nick Addona. Athens managed to load the bases in the 6th, but Povse managed to get out of the jam. Daniel Sondag closed for green hope.

Possibly one of the best pitchers duels of the year, on opening day. Both Povse and Williams finished with pitch counts under 80, I believe. Edit: Povse finished with 68.

Green hope goes to Leesville Road Thursday and goes to Middle Creek Friday.

    Mallard Creek is 1-0

Mallard Creek posted a fairly easy 20 to 0 win over a scrappy Harding team at home today. Mavericks play East Meck tomorrow and Independence Thursday. Three games in three days will test depth of pitching staff.
