I have been told that Area 3 has a total of 19 teams for 2011, between the Northern and Southern Divisions. Of course some may haven't gotten their registration/insurance info sent in yet, but they need to be gettin with it.

On top of what is going on in Concord, I have heard Post 76 out of Albemarle may not field a team. Understand they may be going through some changes with Legion officials. Would really hate to see these two programs fold, even though we have never had much success at either venue. Hopefully, the Stanly issue is just a rumor.

With tj's count of 19 and already knowing Mooresville with 2 teams, somebody must be dropping. We had 19 teams last year. We always have the 2, one in northern and one in southern that is always iffy.

My bad, 19 was the number that Lippard told me before the Mooresville decision. A 2nd Mooresville team would make 20.

Of course this number was his assuming the longtime programs would get things together. Its tough to finance one of these programs, and today's economy only makes it more difficult. Gotta have dependable people too.

Sometimes money and dependable personel are not enough. Post 66 has both and now their 37th season is very much in doubt due to the new legion team that has tied up half of their draw. As of this week, things dont look good.

I would really hate to see the Post 66 team not play. Coaches Josh Graham and Nick Stutts are really well liked by the kids and the community and both have done a spectacular job since taking over the helm when Whitey Meadows retired. These two guys gave the program a new breath of fresh air and have been honest, hardworking and dedicated to American Legion baseball. It will be a sad day indeed if the program ends.
