Steven Blythe goes the distance throwing 82 pitches in what should have been a CG shutout, however a bobbled potential double play ball and a dropped fly ball in the seventh allowed 2 runs to score. Jarred Barr added an early grand slam to help the Spartans to an 8-0 lead.

Looking at the stats; that was a strange game. 7-0 AK leading after 4 innings; then final was 8-7 AK. AK 10 hits, Watauga 5. Good comeback for the Pioneers.

Wonders defense holds WR to 3 field goals...yeah, OK poor attempt at humor. I swear they were close to forty baserunners in this game, Wonders Zach Jones hit a grandslam in the win.

tj graced us with his presence in the 5th inning!:SCA+HL:

Just nothing going right for Middle Creek (4A Tri-9) right now. Dropped to 0-4 today after a 7-0 loss to visiting Roxboro Person.

Dylan Dickens complete game win striking out 12 Mustangs.

    Lake Norman

Lake Norman lost today at home against Winston Salem Glenn, 7-6. Alex Cagide (Jr.) made the start today and looked good, throwing no hit ball for 3 1/3 until Glenn put up 6 to take the lead for good in the 4th. Glenn added 1 in the 6 that proved to be the game winner for them, as LKN rallied, but fell short leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th. Drew McNeil was 2-4 with a 2B, while Jack and Ian Edmiston added a hit, as did Joey McAlpin and Dakota Brantley. The Wildcats open up IMECK play on Tuesday at home against a very good Hough team.

I am so glad we don't have to face Dickens. That young man is a coaches dream and opposing team nightmare. ECU coaches, call me and lets work out something. I want him in Columbia.

    Dickens

I was there to see Dickens pitch at Middle Creek. I was impressed with his pitching and leadership but I was a bit bothered by his actions on the mound. 1, he would wait until the at-bat was going to begin and remove his hat and pray for about 20 seconds (long time in that situation). Why do that when things are ready to get going? I believe he did this before every leadoff batter in an inning. 2, in the first inning he removed his long sleeves while standing in the middle of the diamond.. stripped down to barechest while everyone had nothing to do but watch him undress and get comfortable. Praying is completely fine but I'm not sure the best time to do so is before the first pitch of an inning is supposed to happen.. Why not do so in between innings during his warm-up pitches? The stripping down to barechest was a bit over the top as well. I like the leadership and ability, but he seemed to show too much ego.

ECU got them a good one though, I hope nobody takes this the wrong way because I was very impressed with him. Just saw two things that I wouldn't expect to see on the high school varsity level from a bigtime player.
