    USA Baseball Mid-Atlantic NTIS

Looking for a shot at representing your country? The USA Baseball NTIS program is a first step toward getting invited to the USA Baseball Team Trials. Last year three Team Mid-Atlantic players received invites including Cole Billingsley who went on to play in Mexico for Team USA right from the NTIS event where he won a gold medal for his country!

Registration for Camps and Evaluations for the USA Baseball NTIS program have just hit the web. Go to www.midatlanticntis.com to get more info or email [email protected]

This is presented as a great opportunity to test your skill and possibly represent your country. And it may be.

If Team USA is serious, then they wil create a selection comittee comprising of more than one baseball organization, lower the entrance fee, add more value to the event to make it more attractive to really good players, and/or make it based on some nomination criteria by coaches and the players skill level.

This is not to bash any players accomplishments or USA baseball organization or even mid-Atlantic NTIS. But this is a forum of baseball fans who want the best for our sport. After seeing tryouts first hand, I have a few comments, because it seems some improvements need to be made or better expectations set.

If you want to go play with good players and test yourself, go tryout.
If you want to show off your raw numbers, go tryout.
If you are expecting instruction, or your development needs written out,
or businesses to stop acting like a business,
then don't go - or serially reset your expectations.

Curious if you went though both stages of the tryouts last year including the two day event with games or just the one day pro-style event?

This years Mid-Atlantic event format has changed to one, two day event including instruction and games. That being said, USA Baseball's NTIS program is specifically a showcase, ID, program with the goal of bringing the most talented players to Cary, by position, from each of the 14 regions from which they alone select those who move on.

Cole Billingsley, who played for team Mid-Atlantic last year left the NTIS program in Cary and went straight to Mexico with the 16u National Team where he won a Gold Medal. So, yes, it is a good opportunity as he misses that experience if he doesn't come to the NTIS.

I don't get the business comment. Most businesses that stop acting like businesses go out of business don't they?

    NTIS - set your expectations

If you want a good workout, to test yourself against good competition, to get feedback on your “raw numbers” versus other players, to get good experience for showcase events, or for practice when College or MLB scouts show up…..then go tryout. With these expectations you won’t be disappointed.
