I am not even going to begin predicting anything in this conference. Very strong, very even, very competitive. Whoever makes the playoffs though has a good chance to make a decent run (think Apex and Lee County last year).

Fuquay 5-3 over Lee County in 9 innings. And true this is a very strong conference, any given night any team can win, and a team from this conference always has a chance to make a run at the State Championship. If you refer back to an earlier post of mine, this conference usually sends teams deep into the playoffs.

About an inch of rain in Cary today... Most games tomorrow will probably be rained out. Friday's a teacher workday...

    Green Hope - 2
    Middle Creek - 1

    11 Innings

GREAT game by two good teams. Max Povse (Green Hope - UNCG) started for GH and pitched 8 innings allowing 1 hit (homerun by MC's Will Fuller) and striking out 18!!!

Daniel Sondag got the W for GH.. Ty Kenney of MC took the hard luck loss. Sophomore Graham Edwards pitched the first 5 for MC allowing just 1 run.

Cary with a big upset over rival Apex tonight, 6-4. Cary's first win of the year. Way to go Imps.

Enloe topped Athens 6-3 in non-conf. play

I think Athens and MC played a DH tonight (finished prior game, and played another game). Pretty sure Athens won both, but not certain. If so, my predictions for MC and AD for the season are probably just a bit off haha

    HS beat Cary.

    Apex beat Panther Creek.

Athens beat MC twice (one of which was a resumed game from earlier this season in extra innings).

Athens Drive @ Middle Creek 4/8/2011

Athens Drive defeated Middle Creek twice on Fri (4/8). The first was a continuation of a previous game that was called for darkness with the score tied 2-2 through 8 innings. That game was picked where it left off. Chris Williams took the mound in the top of the 9th for Athens. Middle Creek got a runner on base but did not manage to score. In the bottom of the 9th with bases loaded and 2 outs, Patrick Mason drew a walk to plate the winning run.

After a brief break, the second game began with Chris Williams on the mound again, facing Seth Watkins of Middle Creek. Middle Creek managed 1 run on 2 hits in the bottom of the first inning. However, they would only have one more runner reach scoring position the rest of the rain shortened game. On the other hand, Athens Drive pounded out 13 hits on their way to an 8-1 victory. Athens was led at the plate by Blake Seaton (1-3, BB, 2 RBIs), Chris Williams (3-4, RBI), Ben Snotherly (1-4, HR,1 run, RBI), Patrick Graham (2-4, 2B,scored 2 runs) Eric Berger (3-4, 2B, RBI, 3 runs), Justin Reynolds (2-3, RBI, 1 run), Matt Proctor (BB, RBI, 1 run), and Andrew Mitchell (1-4 , RBI).

That takes Athens conference record to 7-2 and keeps them in second place in the conference.
