Charlotte Country Day 11...Rabun Gap, Ga 0

    Rabun, GA.000 00....0...2..3
    CCDS…......350 3x...11..6..2

    Pitching:

    CCDS William Frazier 5IP, 2H, 0R, 0ER, 8K, 0BB....WP (3-0)
    Rabun Andy Garcia 1IP, 3H, 6R, 4ER, 1K, 5BB…..LP
    Rabun Ryan Goude 4IP, 3H, 5R, 3ER, 6K, 5BB

    Hitting:

    CCDS Patrick Langdon 2-2, 3RBI
CCDS Colin Walls 1-2, HR, 2RBI
    CCDS Tyler Holloway 1-3, 2B, 2RBI
    CCDS Wade Leach 1-1, RBI
    Rabun Perez Knowles 1-2, 2B

The Bucs were opportunistic early and picked up the runners from scoring position with timely hitting. Patrick Langdon hit the ball sharply up the middle on two occasions to drive in three runs and Tyler Holloway drove a double over the centerfielder’s head to score two. Colin Walls cranked a no-doubter over the left-centerfield fence to plate the last two runs of the game. William Frazier kept the Rabun hitters off balance and tossed two-hit ball for 5 innings with 8 Ks and no walks. The Bucs go to 7-1 for the season.

    Southwest Guilford 12, Ragsdale 2

Southwest Guilford won the rematch game 12-2 tonight over in High Point. Matt Orth (UNC commit) went the distance for Southwest and also hit the huge 2-out, 3-run homerun that changed the entire momentum of the game when Ragsdale had a 2-1 lead in the 4th.

I still don't like that we played you guys twice in 1 week...

    Hopewell vs North

Anyone have a score on I Meck battle between Titans and Vikings? Things get interesting starting second half of conference play next week. Huge week for Mallard Creek facing Mooresville and Lake Norman. Big week for Lake Norman as they face North and Creek.

    LANGDON - don't doubt me....

I told you guys to keep an eye on Langdon..... He would be on everyone's watch list if he hadn't suffered unfortunate and untimely injuries his freshman and soph years. Stay tuned - stock is rising.

    What???? Left side???

Tex - did you say Mangum hit a Homer lefty???? That is AWESOME! I like surprises --- (not that he hit one, but that he turned around!)

Looks like the Cav's are in full stride. Good luck today!

    He callled it.....

Best part is that his dad called it and told John he could do it before he stepped into the box. On another note, seems like Tekker and Mangum (Both on the 2012 South Charlotte Panthers) got the message that Don only had 3 hitters on his team. I guess they want to help out a little more this Summer.

    Cuthbertson over Piedmont 2 -0

Both teams played well until the fourth where Cuthbertson and Andrew Hendel had a nice base hit when the outfielder lost it under his glove, which allowed his brother Peter to score the first run of the day. Austin Pierce came up next and singles to plate Andrew and that was about it for this windswept day.

    WP - Peter Hendel(UNC) - 7 IP - 2 H's, 1 BB, and 10 K's
    LP - Brad Elwood - (UNCC) - 6 IP - 7 H's, 2 BB's, 5 K's, and 1 ER

This was a well pitched game where most of the batters were held to very little to hit. It could have easily have gone into extra innings, but as Augi says..."Baseball is a game of the unexpected."

Only a few shined offensively with Preston Morrison (TCU) getting a triple and Andrew Hendel with a double. Peter Hendel was 2 - 3 on the day.

This puts Cuthbertson on top of their conference at 9 - 1 overall and 7 - 0 in conference play. Next week Cuthbertson has a double header on Tuesday and then plays games on Thursday and Friday. All of these will be at home and all will be conference games.

Charlotte Country Day 12....Covenant Day 2

    CD.......002 00....2...5...1
    CCDS….510 24...12..13..0

    Pitching:

    CCDS Lee Harrison 5IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 6K, 0BB....WP (2-1)
    CD David Leonard 2.2 IP 5H, 6R, 6ER, 3K, 5BB LP

    Hitting:

CCDS Tyler Holloway 3-4, HR, double, 3RBI
CCDS Lee Harrison 2-4, triple, 3RBI
CCDS Brian Duncan 1-2, double, 2RBI
    CCDS Patrick Langdon 2-3
    CCDS Colin Walls 1-2, 2RBI
    CCDS William Frazier 2-4
    CCDS Sammy Brown 1-3, RBI
    CD Michael Henry 1-2, double
    CD Matt Pearson 1-2 RBI
    CD David Leonard 1-3, RBI

The Bucs were strong out of the gate on a windy Saturday afternoon, plating 5 runs on 4 hits and a couple of walks in the first inning. The Country Day offensive attack was keyed by leadoff hitter, Patrick Brady, who reached base on all four trips to the plate. Tyler Holloway had a big day, settling for an RBI double after just missing a HR in the second inning and then followed that with a two run walkoff HR in the bottom of the 5th inning. Lee Harrsion also had three RBIs and scooted around the bases for a triple off a drive to right center. Patrick Langdon stayed hot going 2-3 with a long double. Catcher Brian Duncan also doubled in the power alley, driving in two more Buccaneer runs. Lee Harrison pitched a 5-inning complete game, recording six Ks while not yielding any walks. Covenant Day senior catcher Matt Pearson was a bulldog behind the plate, blocking many diving off-speed pitches in the dirt to prevent base runners from advancing and chipped in with an RBI single. The Bucs go to 8-1 on the season.

I was told Covenant Day has a lefthanded shortstop. Is this true ? If so I haven't seen this at the high school level since the sixties.
