Parkwood is hanging tuff with the close ball games. They played Weddington very tight both games. Looks like they are on the verge of a break through. Come tournament time, they should not be overlooked.

Weddington played PR last night in another close game, this time they didn't have the key plays to pull it out. Weddington gets 1 hit on the night (a line drive to center by Prillaman). This was promptly followed up with a ball hit to the short stop to get him thrown out at 2nd. No player rounded 2nd on the night for Weddington.

A well pitched game by PR, keeping the W batters off balance. W pitched Newsome. Another good outing for the most part. 3 balls hit hard (2 caught) all night. The damage was done by the flares that fell into the black hole between the infielders and the charging outfielders and 5 walks (1 intentional). PR realized that this was not going to be a high scoring affair and played small ball. A great job of their players bunting the ball in the right spots (executing the squeeze play to score 1 of the 3 runs on the night).

    Rematch scheduled for Friday.

Great game to watch. The W hit was to RF over the 2nd baseman, solid hit. The next batter bunted, pitcher fielded it and got the out at 2nd. That was his only play because #17 laid down a good one and would have beat it at first.

Newsome was outstanding. 6IP, 3hits, 1 run, and 12 K's. Someone said a Wingate coach was there, saw a guy with a radar gun. Has he committed there or is he looking at them?

PR covered their field up with their tarp so hopefully these two will get to play on Friday.

    Newsome has committed to Wingate.

Your correct...it was a bunt that as laid down, then PR threw the runner out at 2nd. While the batter did lay it down (as opposed to popping it up), it was not a good one. If it was a good one, the runner would have been able to reach 2nd. The purpose of the bunt is to move the runner into scoring position 1st and foremost. If the batter can also be safe even better.

game was cancelled last night because of wet field. Word is the game will be made up next Saturday. Don't have a clue why that couldn't have happened today. Certainly not weather and everyone else seems to be playing or played.

Pretty good pitchers dual early in the game with Jordan Newsome getting the win for Weddington. Some sloppy defensive play in the 4th and 5th innings from both teams.

Alex Morales stays hot with a triple down the right field line. Chase Prillaman get his first ever high school HR to put Weddington up 4-3 in the 6th. Newsome fights through the bottom of the 7th with a K of one of SV top hitters with a man on third and 2 outs.

Fun game to watch, even better if you remove some of the errors in the middle of the game. Both pitchers competed.

    Anybody have full conference records?

Weddington wins the make up game.

Alex Bostic goes 4 for the win. Sean Collins shuts them down in the 4th and 5th and Jordan Newsome comes in and slams the door in the 7th.

Hitting was solid all up and down the line up.

1down22go do you have hitting details?
