Looking for something different than the usual sell this or sell that type fundraiser.

What are some of the more ingenious ways others have used to raise funds in high school athletics?

RATHER THAN RAISE FUNDS, I WOULD.............

Rather than raise funds, I would rather organize coaches, dads and players to restore baseball facilities to their original state. A dozen or so able bodies can do wonders in a weekend.....:peacemanmw:
    Let's get started.

My brother came up with a novel way to raise money that worked an old idea......car washes performed by the players. Instead of setting up and trying to wrangle cars into the bank parking lot, they pre-sold tickets for a future car wash. Most people believe they will be spending $$$ for a car wash, so it was an easy sell and only a percentage of the buyers showed up at the appointed future time...they raised a lot more money with that approach than the traditional way of doing it.

Still...it's a car wash, but there is nothing wrong with making those who benefit from the fund raising work for it...

Worlds Finest Chocolate is a can't miss especially if no organization has done it in recent years near your area. Wal-Marts and Food Lions will let you set up some tables at times. Get to the Wal-Mart managers early because many organization want to set up during the holidays. The best time to sell is August-Jan1. Sales fall off at the first of the year due to weight resolutions.
Make sure you get your bars personalized with a name and year date(to reassure freshness) and so the buyer can see specifically ( Washington High Baseball 2012) (ect.) who they are supporting. Without personalization some customers may not believe where the funds are going.
And lastly, put the players to work. This fundraiser is to help their program. Some will do more than others but always be thankful of their efforts.

you can never go wrong with World's Finest chocolate. I bought a whole box from a kid at the World Series in Atlanta in 1996. I hadn't had one in probably a decade. So i made him give me his 'pitch', then bought every one he had.
