A first look at team records and conference standings. The number of playoff spots from each league is in the brackets (). There is one wild cards in the 4A west bracket this year.

If you can assist in updating and/or correcting a team or league it is greatly appreciated, especially with the P/T.

This conference is not complete. Glenn has won it but important games Monday. East plays SWG I know. Not sure who else plays but that game will be important.

Worth Repeating - NCHSAA Needs to Improve Brackets

I know I may sound like a broken record but....

It is silly and stupid of the NCHSAA to structure their brackets so the best two teams in the West can't possibly meet for a three game series to decide the west champion because they are stuck on the same side of the bracket.

There are enough ways to rank teams with hard and fast rules other than final conference standings to avoid this. Having Porter Ridge - with a pitiful record - as a #1 seed on one side of the bracket and Providence and Ardrey Kell both on the other side of the bracket is just plain dumb.

Guess the NCHSAA's huge "rainy day" fund does not need the extra money from the gate receipts...

    Porter Ridge as #1

It is my understanding that since Porter Ridge was seeded 3rd in the SCC conference tournament they could NOT be the #1 seed in the state tourney. However, they beat Weddington last night and if they beat Sun Valley they will going into state tourney on a roll.

More than AK and Providence out there......

Many high school baseball people in NC realize that the Southwestern Conference is one that is VERY strong and it appears from the website that every contest from top to bottom is pretty much a war between the lines. In saying that, there are more than enough good high school teams out there that have 1 or 2 arms that can beat anybody. Furthermore, and correct me if I am wrong but didn't the SW #1 lose in the first round last year. So what precedent does the NCHSAA to re-configure the state baseball playoffs to try and FORESEE an Ardrey Kell/Providence Regional Final?

So instead of sounding like a broken record.....let the kids decide the outcome of the playoffs. I have no allegiance to any team in the Charlotte area but good luck to all the teams/players/coaches in the upcoming baseball playoffs!

    No Easy Games

I have to agree that they are a lot of good pitchers that can shut anybody down. I know a lot of schools who have D1 pitchers so one area is not better than another area. They play the game because a team is going to be good on certain night while another has a bad game. We all know that the best teams do not always win. I am sure that AK is good as well as Providence. I also know that somebody who is better is going to lose!
