The PING cheap HR is a goner.....

Rice Owls third baseman Anthony Rendon, potential 1st pick in draft, has only 4 home runs this year after leading the nation with 26 last year!

Ok maybe this stat is more accurate.....

East Tennesse leads the nation with 69 home runs that would not have been in the top 25 last year.

No team will hit 100 this year and last year 10 teams had over 100 homers!

    Atlantic Coast Conference:

    2010: 884 homers
    2011: 154 homers (so far)

That's a serious dropoff in power!

    Same power

different bat. These bats are designed to play more like wood. Some guys say they lack the juice that wood has some say they are about the same. Some say same juice in wood and the BBCOR but the sweet spot is smaller for a BBCOR than a wood bat. Heck I dont know but I do know the cheap hr is gone. And it should be. What your seeing now is the guys with the legit power to hit hr's are the ones hitting them though not as frequently. And the guys without the power to hit hr's are not, as it should be imo.

BBCOR is changing baseball back into old-fashioned, hard nosed, small ball. Now, instead of waiting around for 5 big flies you have to hit and run, bunt, and move runners to generate runs. If anything it's giving guys under 6'0 the ability to stand out, reimplementing the need for speed, and forcing young players to learn to play the game the right way.
