    Heard Parkwood won.

Congrats to Mallard Creek. They are playing some good ball and will be tough to beat. They play very well together and look like a cohesive group on the field.

Marvin Ridge's Chadwick's 2-run walk off bomb was very exciting. Peart worked his way out of a few jams and Keorner threw his butt of and that curveball is nothing less than disgusting. Union County is tearing it up.

NWG/Providence game details anyone? Don't know much about NWG but Providence was a very good team. They got a lot of hype but deserved it. Very surprised to see them gone in the second round.

Maybe if some respect was given to other areas of NC people wouldn't be so shocked about the Providence loss. Plus there still kids, get it to the 5th inning of a short 7 inning game and human nature is to press a little bit. Anybody can be beat. Thats why we love this game! NWG is as good as anybody and was one game from not making the playoffs. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they win 6 more games and won a state championship.

Just because Charlotte teams are really competitive, it doesn't mean other areas of the state are inferior.

Hurting my arm with all the back patting i am doing. I mentioned earlier that with all the parity in the west 4A and 3A that there were no guarentees. I believe Providence, NW Cabaruss, E Rowan, Davie County and Cuthberson all got upset( i could be wrong as i usually am). There are some very talented teams that doesn't get much ink but they are good and with the one and done, on a given night anything can happened. I know a lot of seniors on the teams that lost and i can honestly say that they are wonderful players and even better young men. They all will do well at the next level. It hurts right now but congrats on a great season. All my friends that are through playing, if you have any favors left with the BaseBall Gods, call them in for Mallard Creek. We play TC Roberson friday and they are very good. We could used all the help we can get.

from what I read, NW hit 3 out on PHS. Also, read where several NW players were HBP and a little banged up after game. So pitching must of been an issue for PHS.

NW has been on roll of late. Won conference tourney over Glenn and moved up to 2 seed. Freshman Duncan Everette has really helped them. Got W last night(probably in relief of Keaton Haack) and blasted HR. Pretty impressive for 9th grader.

Will have hands full Friday at SE Guilford(Impact #4) , who are led by Josh Tobias, Blake Butler, and top ace Dylan Shutt.

Everett is a senior, going to Barton I believe. With he and Haack NW has a very good chance. SE is good but definitely beatable. Just my opinion!

Dawgcatcher, was just saying that with all the "ink" Providence and other schools around the Charlotte area get it appears that other areas aren't taken as seriously in regards to being competitive.

NW is pretty good from top to bottom offensively and fundamentally sound defensively.

Sounds like NW is very good. They beat a very good team last night. It's exciting watching a hot team in the playoffs. It's amazing what happens when things click. IE, Sanderson who was in the finals a couple of years ago with a .500 record coming in to the playoffs.

guys better teams get beat by lesser teams in the playoffs all the time. The system in NC is flawed. It starts with seedings. The seedings should be set at the end of the season not pre determined. Secondly you should not give a team an advantage by moving games ahead of scedule so you can use a pitcher 2 games in a row. If rain in the forcst you play the afterwards. Off course you can only ride a pitcher so long until you get beat.

I was there and Providence got beat by the better team THAT NIGHT. The Guilford team played tough and Providence hit the ball hard all night but right at people. Especially for the last out when Fincher hit the hardest ball all night but it was right at the SS. That's just baseball. It was a good playoff game.

I have been a voyeur on the site for over a year now…and really enjoy it. Felt compelled to write for the first time, as I was at the NWG-Providence game last night. First off, I cannot tell you how impressive I thought Providence was. The atmosphere is great, the coaches appear to be first class, and the players are studs. My son is a freshman, and plays first base for NWG, and was able to chat up a couple of players during short breaks in play (I know that is frowned upon on this site for the most part..haha). He said, to a player, they were all ‘awesome’, and ultimately these are the things you like to hear and remember about these kids. I am sorry that I don’t know all the names, but Austin (catcher) and Campana (3rd) are among the ones mentioned. Additionally, when we had an untimely injury to a key player in the 3rd inning, Austin showed a lot of class.

As for the game, NW was able to get a couple of hits off the pitcher…and that is contagious. We had some good defensive plays early also, which helped our confidence. The early runs were big, but for our relief pitcher to come into the situation he had to come in, and pitch the way he did was ultimately the difference for us. Providence showed their metal, and came back strong in the 6th and 7th innings. The shot to SS that ended the game with two on was one of the hardest hit balls I have seen all year.

As for our next game, with the injury and the juggling that was required, our pitching is pretty thin. However, we will compete as best we can against a tough SEG team.
