Congratulations to the SCC. These teams have represented themselves very well in this years Tournament. Based on a number of the posters on this board, there was not a lot of confidence that these teams would advance in this years Tournament. The SCC is getting a well deserved reputation as a very competitive baseball conference. :cucumber:

In the 4A West, Porter Ridge has again gone deep into the playoffs. Over three games (N Meck, E Gaston, Watauga), PR has given up 1 run. I'm sure they'll give TC a solid contest Tues as well.

    In the 3A West:

Marvin Ridge has shown to be a tough out. Through three rounds (Cox Mill, JM Robinson, Catholic), MR has only given up 7 runs. While other highly touted teams "get the press" all they do is win.

Parkwood has got a real good run going. Through 3 rounds (Waddell, NW Cabarrus, Weddington), PW has only given up 5 runs (only 2 to the "favored" NW Cab.)

Weddington had a solid season. Weddington's season came to an end against PW Friday night in the 3rd round. Weddington had nice wins against Hickory Ridge, and East Rowan.

MR goes against Parkwood Tuesday night in the fourth round. Great kids on both teams, should be a great game.

We talked before the year started how most teams in this conference play an extremely tough out of conference games. I think almost every team plays at least 3 teams from the SW4A conference not to mention Mt. Pleasant, Cuthbertson, Piedmont, and very competitive Easter Tournaments. If you look at Weddington and Marvin Ridge specifically I think they each played every team out of the SW4A (except Providence for MR) but we are extremely fortunate to be able to play these teams. I think at the beginning of the year I said that even though the overall records of these teams might not be great but come playoff time it would pay off....and it definitely has!
