    Unless you attended the 4A sectional in 2008 where in the exact same situation, the coach put the winning run on via IW and this time the next batter pops up and the ball is caught instead of dropped, for the last out and the team advances.

    i would like to see some of these no talent clowns that post on this board play, coach, or umpire any game of magnitude. Most of ya would choke for lack of balls. Congrats to all players, coaches and umpires working right now. The rest of you, remember, the tooth fairy aint real

    Uh... well... not exactly the words I would have chosen... but the message is, so to speak, RIGHT ON!
    Except that I might say "play, coach or umpire any game" - forget the magnitude part.

    And, yes, long after these posts have slid down to the bottom of the page, where you have to scroll and then even click on to other pages, a coach somewhere will be laying in the dark, looking up at a ceiling fan's spinning blades, wondering and replaying and doubting and...

    Maybe you can at least consider doing for the coach what you have celebrated was done for that left fielder... maybe...:pet:

    Amazing kids!!! All of them. They are great baseball players but even better people.

    Mallard Creek is a class act on and off the field. Those boys are going to do great things some day soon!

    As for Roberson, that is most-likely the best fundamentally coached team I have seen this year. They never missed a cut off man, limited the walks, hit to all fields, and drove the ball on a line. Congrats to them for moving on.

    As for Mallard Creek and their left fielder...you win some you lose some. We all drop fly balls..this one just happened to be at a bad time. Tough break. If he's learned anything from his fellow teammates over there on the Creek, he'll bounce back.

    As for the decision for the IW...I agree that a force play increases the chances of an out...but in my opinion, I'd rather pitch to Albert Pujols rather than walk the winning run on base..If you're going to beat me...you're going to earn it!

    I agree. With 2 out there are a very limited number of plays where Mikal Hill's only play is a force instead of a throw to first. And even if he has to eat it, the other team STILL needs a hit to tie and/or beat you.
