I guess they went to the wrong ballpark. But I'm sure they will be fine...too much talent.

Union Co. 4, Queen City 3 in 10 innings

    Queen City - 010 000 002 0 - 3 - 13 - 2
    Union Co. - 200 100 000 1 - 4 - 10 - 2

    WP: Peart
    LP: Harrison

    QC: Snover - 3-5; Powell - 2-5, 2RBI, 3B; Hull - 2-5; Harrison 2-4 RBI; Rowe - 2-5

    UC: Rand 2-5; Elwood 3-5, RBI, 2 2B, 3B; King 2-4

What a game at Wingate tonight between two undefeated teams.
Olen Little (Wingate) started for Queen City against future teammate Jordan Newsome (Weddington/Wingate). Both pitchers pitched well. Little went 6 innings giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 6 Ks. Newsome went 8 innings giving up only 1 run on 9 hits with 9 Ks. Lou Trosch (East Meck) pitched 2 innings of two hit relief. Peart pitched the ninth for UC and this is where things got interesting. From innings 1-8 Queen City had left 9 runners on base (three times they had two on with two out and could not get the clutch hit). In the top of the ninth, QC again got two runners on with two outs. Tyler Powell (Myers Park/Western Carolina) ripped a two run triple to right centerfield to tie the game. Lee Harrison (Country Day) pitched a scoreless ninth. Both teams had the opportunity to score in the 10th inning. QC had runners on first and third with no outs but Peart shut them down. Elwood led the bottom of the tenth off with a triple to left centerfield. After a strikeout, intentional walk, and another strikeout, Queen City's Harrison struck out the next batter but the batter advanced on a dropped third strike and Elwood scored from third.
QC travels to Jack Hughes Park on Thursday to play Pineville while UC hosts Monroe in a 5:00 DH at Wingate.
