Hey extrainnings, alot of these kids are as good as the so called better players. Most of the better players have pitching around them to make them look good, so you can't evaluate their feilding as you could a kid that doesn't have good pitching. I know many kids that were recruited to go D1 and didn't pan out because they may had a good game when a coach was a round, but really weren't that good. Congrats to all the kids on the West

Not sure we should call a kid out in a negative way. That is not what this site is about.

    Battle of the Border

The date for the Battle of the Border is Sunday June 12th for the seniors, whereas for West/East game the date is Wednesday June 15th. They could opt to do both and I know many of them are.

I was honored to coach the North Carolina team in the senior game at the Battle of the Border last season and I can tell you it was a GREAT event. Many college coaches were in attendance (mainly for the junior & sophomore events....most of the seniors had already signed), phenomenal facility at Winthrop and the rosters for the teams were LOADED with talent. I threw 9 pitchers that night to get them some work.....and had 5 that hit 90 on the gun!
It was a great time with some outstanding players....go check it out!

    extrainnings....

Congrats on one of the rudest posts that this board has ever seen. If baseball programs like South Carolina, Liberty, Army, App St., and Wilmington are simply honorable mentions when it comes to the best school in the area then I would LOVE to see the "big guys" you have in mind. I agree that the east seems to have the advantage from a pitching standpoint, while the west has some pop in their bats. I believe that events like this favor the side with the best pitching so I favor the east in the games, but it will be well played and i have been wrong many times before....:toff:

Thanks to all that policed this thread. It's hard to keep up with sometimes unless it is done 24/7.

I don't know the poster that is referred, but I've read their posts in the past and have always thought they were a contributor. I'm sure it was just a poor choice of words and no malice intended.

I agree that all of the players are deserving and will find the experience one they will remember. Anytime one gets to play with Mikal Hill is a special day! But having said that, there are many outstanding players participating.

Some players opt out simply to give others an opportunity, while others are participating in Legion ball this summer and are loyal to the program.

State Games, whether the Junior Games or Senior games, is the best tournament held in this state...and the opportunity to represent your area is not lost on the players participating.

Any time Rookie Davis is pitching to Mikal Hill, that is worth the price of admission alone. Should be another excellent game!
