Sounds like it was a great game. I thought union had dropped a game to huntersville?

The top of the 9th was special....Queen City had plenty of hits, but had only plated one run in 8 innings. The 9th started off with two quick outs and then the Mustangs strung together three two-out hits, capped off by Tyler Powell's two-out, two-strike triple to right center that struck the bottom of the fence on the fly. That hit followed a ball call on a pitch that the Union County dugout wanted for a game-ending strikeout.

Yes. That was a really tough pitch to take in that situation. However, much credit to the QC guys for battling and giving themselves a chance to win. Peart did a great job getting out of the jam in the 10th to give UC a chance to win.

Gaston Braves 4 (in seven innings)

After the Braves led off with seven straight hits and four runs in the top of the first, MH Army pitcher Carson Plyler settled down to not allow any more runs. With the help of a 5-2 double play from third baseman Hardin to catcher Fowler, the Army team played great error free defense. Two homeruns by Mario Labrador and timely hitting from Ryan Hodge (double), Tommy Hibbard (double) and Brandon Rawe (game ending double) it looks like the Army team bats are taking to the task. The Army bats came to life last two games played after being somewhat cooled off by the Mustangs and Huntersville. Should be an interesting weekend.

    Area IV will be interesting

I am really liking what I an seeing so far out of Huntersville. They play great defense, put the ball in play and out of the park, deep at several positions and although I do not see a shut down flame thrower I see multiple guys with different styles who can get it done on the mound. Team speed and chemistry is good. They will be a tough out.

    Huntersville 9
    Mint Hill Marines 5

Jordan Blair gets the win going 4.2 with just one earned run for Huntersville.
Jared Fortune threw a shutout ninth.

Matt Baltimore gets the loss for Mint Hill, but threw a good ballgame against a tough lineup.

Mikal Hill had a couple hits and three RBI's.
Brandon Wilkerson had a triple and a single and 2 runs.

Huntersville moves to 6-0 and hosts Queen City at North Meck at 7PM Saturday night.
