The Lady Blues 18u Elite, coached by Moni Armendarez and Greg Spain, went undefeated in their first tournament of the season. In the USC Upstate tournament they only allowed 1 run in 4 games. The LBlues defeated a very good South Carolina Elite team by a score of 2 to 1. Congrats go out to a very talented team.

The 3 pitchers on the current Lady Blues Elite 18u team are: Kellie Beres (2011 Gardner Webb signee), Catelyn Presley (2012 uncommitted) and Peyton Jordan (2013 uncommitted).

Kellie Beres pitched an outstanding complete game victory against the SC Elite on Saturday night, in a 2-1 victory.

Catelyn and Peyton split time evenly in the other 3 games, with neither giving up a run.

Kudo's go out to Chris Hawkins and Bryan Pack for running an outstanding event. All games were on time, and the field was drug and watered down for each game. Upstate knows how to put on a multi-team tournament/showcase. Great facility to play and watch a game at.

    Carolina Elite doesn't have a 18U team

The team you played is a very good first year 16U team coached by Bryan Pack. There is a second year 16U team and a couple of 14U teams. You could see any of them in 18U showcases. Congrats on a great weekend! Edit - should have added that Coach Pack did coach a 18U team last year.

I thought this was a showcase tournament? I didnt know it had a winner or a loser.

There's always a winner and a loser. But the winner doesn't have to use the "it was a showcase" excuse.

Who were they showing to? Dead period--right?

there is always a winner and a loser in each game but not always in each tournament. normally a tournament that has winners and loser has a bracket format. I am glad your team did well but they only won their games.

dead period for off campus recruiting for D1 coaches. not D2 or juco. Being that it was held on the campus of Upstate then I can assure you that Pack and Hawkins were watching the games. Isnt that a showcase?

I have no idea; I was just commenting. Not a part of any of those teams.

A tournament without a winner is not really a tournament. So it must have been a showcase?
