I noticed some improvements at Walnut Creek for the championship weekend this year. The parking problem appears to have been fixed. I saw transit carts for people who needed them. Overall, I think it was much better this year.

What other improvements did anyone notice?

What suggestions for improvement or enhancement would you offer?

Not looking for rants! Some of the people who can make a difference read this forum, so your input may help.

I thought the fields were much better than 2 years ago. The lip from the infield to the outfield grass has been for the most part taken care of. It's a good site to host the event, not perfect but it's an obvious choice IMO

Let's see baseball plays at College Field's, softball at poorly lite, rough field Walnut Creek. Time to take softball to the college's as well.

Would they ever get done? Softball plays out differently than baseball. You could possibly do it at college fields but you would lose having all the different divisions playing at the same place... which I find kinda cool.

    Problem Solved...

Bare with me...You could pick 4 major college softball sites a year. Have the same 4 every year or rotate them from the East one year and the West one. Or you could have 1A and 4A in the East and have 2A and 3A in the West. You get the picture mix and match each year some how. but basically have each classification at one major college softball site, start the final four state championships on Thursday and go thru Saturday. 2 games on Thursday 6pm and 8pm then on Friday 6pm and 8pm and then two on saturday or 3 for the "IF" game. This does a couple things. It makes the championships a bigger deal (which they should be, that is what must work for from 2/15 on) second thing you have girls coming from ND, AC, CD, CC, etc. (even if your not) that have great ball parks and there coming to "walnut creek" (AP system horrible, temp. fences, non-safe playing surface for the most part, and they are more worried with the time flashing on the score board then keeping up with the balls and strikes and half the bulbs are burnt). I'm done ranting about walnut. I just think that this could be a very reasonable soultion to the "problem" and it would be more "BIG" time in the environment, etc. Lastly, I feel like it wouldn't be as rushed, take 3 days and play the tournament and you have Sunday in case of rain. They do harp on playing 4 games a week during the season and then you have to win 5 games in a 24 hour period if you come from the loser bracket. That is insane to me. I know my idea is not bullet proof, but I do think it is an improvement. It would mean so much more I feel like for the players (they could go different places around their sites eat, shop, do something rec. etc), and if they want to spread the $ around the state this could help as well. Just my 2 cents. :quiet:
