    Sportsmanship???

Really don't know where or how to start. How can American Legion players recite the "pledge" "oath" etc. promising to keep their emotions in check and then have to be held back from charging the other dugout by their teammates after "bowing" up his back and instantly becoming a "thug-punk" and threatening the opposing players and wanting to fight. Not close enough to hear all of the words, but other close enough to hear say it wasn't language representitve of the code of conduct American Legion embraces. Yes, this was witnessed last night and nothing was done, no apologies, reprimands or suspensions by the league. How is this behavior accepted by the AM coach and other players? This, IMO has put a very negative impression of what should be an occasion to represent the ideals of what American Legion stands for. I even heard the announcer at the game, make fun of and/or question a call over the loud speaker system the field umpire made that just happened to end an inning that went against their team. How is this condoned? Yes we got it handed to us last night, but I believe we were gracious in defeat despite the "punk".

Queen City Mustangs 5...Monroe Heelsplitters 4

    Monroe 000 000 040...4...11...1
    Q. City 001 111 10x....5...9....1

The Mustangs held on to beat a "never say die" Monroe team. William Frazier pitched 5 scoreless innings to start, allowing 5 hits while striking out 7 (5 in a row). Monroe rallied with 4 runs in the 8th to make it close, but Lou Trosch came in and shut them down in the 9th to earn the save. Ethan Garrett had a strong outing for Monroe and showed good velocity on his fastball.

    Leading hitters:

    QC: James Snover 2-4, 2RBI
    QC: Jackson Reisterer 2-3, RBI
    QC: Eddie Hull 1-2, double
    QC: Brian Duncan 1-3, RBI
    QC: William Frazier 1-1
    QC: Taylor Rowe 1-1
    MR: Holmes 3-5
    MR: Patsy 2-3
    MR: Smith 2-5, double
    MR: Barr 2-4

I was at the game and no longer have a dog in the fight as my son has moved on to the scbl (southern collegiate baseball league). This was a very good game until the so called "Thug Punks" blew it wide open i think in the 6th inning. what i recall seeing is the 3rd baseman displayed very poor sportsmanship after the 1st of 2 bombs by Russell that came to rest somewhere in minthill (game played in Huntersville). After the 1st HR the "#### ####" 3rd baseman thru an elbow at perez. After the walk off HR by Russell the same player threw a second elbow on the same player (Perez). After a brief altercation between Perez and the 3rd baseman perez came to the plate and was meet by a catcher for minthill who also displayed poor sportsmanship as as he stood in front of the plate on the 3rd base line refusing Perez to touch the plate.(the catcher was over powered by Perez). Poor sportsmanship came from the losing team but only after they got behind and realized they were playing a team that was simply better and there would be no coming back. After all why didnt minthill walk Russell for the second time. 1st base was open. When you stick your head in a bees nest and get stung dont stick it back in. (maybe because the hot hitting Whitecavage (surry cc) hits behind Russell and made them pay for the 1st Russell walk by a 2 rbi screamer up the middle.) After all said and done your team also repeated the codes of conduct. "Thug Punks" sure can play cant they? WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bigstars & steff - you both have exemplified my point to a tee. Your language (or lack thereof) and tone of your post only makes my point that much more. Grow up. You need to learn humility in your rants. Maybe you will when you graduate from the eighth grade next year. Take your rose colored glasses off and you might be able to see that the home run bombs actually never made it to the interstate much less Mint Hill. Also you might want to check your blood pressure at the gate so you can communicate without using all of the expletives. Maybe if you get out of elementary school you will learn that it is really only a game and its really not your house to protect. CMS has dibbs on that one. Finally - there is no place for fighting (attempting) and cursing anywhere near an American Legion game. Win with humility - lose with humility, because next time the tables might be turned.

CUDOGS got jokes. I have to give it to you that was a good one. my feelings are truly crushed that you have called me an elementary student. How long did it take to think of that one? It shouldnt bother you to lose anymore. Im sure you practice that everyday. It is our house if say its our house. Got it?
