    Looking for some reports on the NC State Games this past week, I know most of the Showcase teams took off this weekend so their players could play in this event but haven't heard a thing about it.

    Heard Region 5 edged Region 3 1-0 in Gold Medal game.

    State Games website shows Region 2 defeated Region 5 in the Gold Medal game

    how bout details on which teams/players put on a good show and which players improved their stock. phones start ringing july 1 for 2012's.

    Colby Barnette (2013) was 7 for 12 in the tourney for Region 6. Region 6 did not swing it exceptionally well, however their pitching was outstanding. Brody Koerner, Trent Thornton, Brad Stone, Michael Herbert, and Bradley Robbins were all outstanding. Also, Tyler Chadwick pitched a scoreless 7th in the Bronze game for the save. JD Long was impressive at SS.

    Heard the two Region 5 pitchers combined for a no-hitter in their Saturday game. And I believe the Region 3 pitchers were almost equally impressive.

    Gold Medal game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Region 2 put 2 up on the board. Region 5 turned around in the top of the 6th and put 2 to tie the game up. Region 2 in the bottom of the 6th scores 3 when 3b Robert Gainey from Southern Wayne launches 3 run homerun over left field fence against DJ Reader who was throwing gas (touched 90 at one point). Great game with great pitching on both sides. Adam Huffman (W. Alamance) and Zack Mozingo (Eastern Wayne) did excellent work in their efforts to keep things scoreless the first 4 innings. Region 5 had 6 hits to Region 2 who had 8 hits. I don't recall any errors on either side. Winston Salem put on a great event and the facilities (BB&T field & WFU) were top notch.

    my guy cj bradshaw had a pretty good weekend for region 2. went 5-12 with 4 runs scored, 5 stolen bases and a 2-run double to put us up 2-0 in the gold medal game.
