I have never saw this before, ever.....have you ?
We are playing in the D1 Draftable UNCC tournament this weekend. We are playing the Blue Ridge Blazers 17u at Davidson University. During the middle of this 9 inning game, 2 Blazer players begin running poles on the warning track while we play ???? Just a jog on this rather small field ( 325, 365, 385, 365, 320) on the warning track doing 6 or 8 poles. There were balls hit to the fences all game, so what the heck ?? I though this was insane since D1 Draftable looks to run a tight program......any thoughts ?

Happened last weekend at the Va Tech dynamic tourney. Would prefer if the player ran on the other side of the fence but 2 different players ran on the inside during the game. Do not see it often but have seen it before.

This happened in Jupiter this past week. The Umpire let Teams know it was OK to run poles as long as they were aware of the ball in play and did not cause any distractions. Seems to happen all the time in Showcase Games. :dizzy2:

I have seen this as well and wondered if this wasn't a distraction to the batter...

    Been to many games?

Fairly common. Never seen it to be an issue. And if it distracts the batter, he may want to consider soccer.

    Poles are STUPID

Poles serve no benefit. They are an antiquated relic of the past, like 8-track tape players. (not good then, or now). Their purpose? For coaches to buy some time who haven't figured out there lineup cards. Or can't run a practice.

A good idea. Get the fat coaches and umpires to run them. Or parents who have to sit around alot.

Train fast. Be fast. Sprint. Jump. Bound. Twist. There's no jogging in baseball. Soccer on the other hand. Full of joggers.
