There are many qualified assistants in the Charlotte area that would be a good fit for the Butler program, but there is a coach available that I believe deserves the chance to demonstrate his abilities.

Historically, the schools have signed the younger, eager, prove-my-self go-getter and it has worked out terrifically: Think Jon Tuscan at SM, Clint Koppe at EM and John Spencer at Myers Park as well as other coaches in an around Charlotte and Union counties.

But this is a coach that is not from the new breed: He has a wealth of experience as a HC out east and has served as a successful assistant at Providence and East Meck. He may be old school, yet he knows how to motivate the new generation of players. He works tirelessly with his players and commits to helping develop inner city kids in his spare time. Also, he coaches a young summer ball team that is very successful---just proves that he can develop young talent.

He loves coaching and would do it for free, He demands respect for the game and commands respect from his players. He won't need 2-3 years to learn the nuances of being a HC in the SW4A. He knows what is expected and will compete and his teams will too.

My recommendation for the Butler HS position is Windall Robertson, East Meck Assistant. He would maintain the success that Kim Cousar has achieved all through his years.

Anybody with Braves' word gets my vote. Wish I could help. Sounds like a great coach that deserves it.

Braves great minds think a like. I was also going to recommend Coach Rob, and hope that he applies. Has all the qualities and any kid and their families will be better by being with the coach.

Selfiishly, I would hate for EM to lose Coach Robertson, because he has been a huge part of their recent success. However, he would be a great hire for Butler. He knows baseball, works extremely hard, and does things the right way. Most importantly, he cares about his players and emphasizes all of the right lessons sports can teach. Team always comes first and foremost. Bottom line, Windall Robertson would be perfect for the job.

    Coach Windall Robertson

Agree with the recommendation for Coach Robertson.

I have seen Coach Robertson in action with high school and middle school aged players---players of all ages respond to him.

Well said WCLion--I second your thoughts loud and clear!!!

I wish him all the best!!!

Would it be a move up??????

Significantly more money?? Working with better players?? A good career move?? Or what??.... Why might one not want this move??:ymca:

Off the record, I have an interest in the Butler opportunity. Guess that's on the record now.

    Congrats

Congrats to new Butler baseball head coach Rick Sambrotto. Rick has been Cousar's assistant for all fourteen years, he was the natural choice. Question is, who is his assistant? Someone up from JV or an outsider? Rick certainly knows his players and potential. Should be an interesting season.
