We all know that rosters were due June 23rd. Then we get into the dual participation rule.

    The rule states:

Dual participation shall in no way interfere with a player’s responsibility to his American Legion
Baseball team. Once tournament play has begun (district tournament up and through American
Legion World Series) the department baseball chairman cannot grant permission to participate in non-
Legion sanctioned baseball events, baseball tournaments, exhibition games, showcases or combines.

There are players throughout this state that are on Showcase teams that have made their teams final 18 man roster. Most of these showcase teams will be participating in the World Wood Bat Tournament in East Cobb. The tournament for 17-u is July 9-15. These dates are during the heart of the American Legion Playoffs. There are many players that are planning to play with their American Legion teams for the first couple of rounds and then quit American Legion so they can go play in East Cobb if there teams are still in the playoffs. Is this permissable per American Legion rules?

Why restrict kids if they want and can play both?

Those players will not have broken the dual participation rule UNTIL they actually play a showcase game, during the legion playoffs, at which point they will already have quit their legion team so it won't really be a broken rule right?

Sounds like Nashville's stupid Marc Sarmiento rule: You can't play on the Nashville little league all-star team and the Rocky Mount little league all-star team in the same year: WHAT A JOKE!

What a tough call. I really hate it for the kids who are supposed to choose in that situation but IMO, they have known about the WWB for how long? Don't sign up if you know there will eventually be an issue. Especially if you're gonna be jumping ship in the heart of the playoffs like Britt said.

Leaves me with one simple resolution that I know Stretchy LOVES.....

    Legion ball in the summer.

    Showcase ball in the fall.

Easy t42, those guys might be trying.

Believe it or not, I heard this rule applied in a differnent fashion.
The interpretation was that you could not be on 2 rosters in the same day. In other words you can't play travel in the day and legion at night.
