John J. Tuttle, Garrett's teammate at CATAWBA, has missing stats from last Monday as well--4 2/3 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 6 k's--he has 14 straight innings of shutout pitching without a decision---and is coaching 1st base for his former Legion team, Post 115 in K-Town, and commuting back and forth to Morganton!:N1saywha:

There was something said about about the stay system being used for the cpl and valley league im pretty sure that is known as dak stats as in daktronics the score board people. That being said that is your standard stat system for college baseball. As far as what the SCBL is using it is called point streak and believe it or not it is being used in the Northwoods League and Womens Pro fast pitch so it is reliable and has some validity as being a good software.

It is unfortunate however that there is a statistical mistake in everyone of the Morganton Aggies games "not judgement calls" some of the worst errors being made in road games. Much if this is due to their number of pitching changes and pinch hit at bats. Players have been charged with other players at bats or in some case never actually are awarded an inning pitched. So I'm not so sure it is the aoftwarea fault for the stats.

    Some stats look correct...

    ...like the Wins & Losses.

(Some "tangibles" like preparation, dedication, hustle, selflessness, attitude and teamwork reflect themselves in the "W" column).

These are all great posts and terrific feedback. The league has come a long way in a very short period of time where are biggest concern is accurate stats…but I also believe having accurate and timely stats are very important.

To give you an idea of what the teams must do just to “manage” the games:

    - Must have PA announcer
    - Must have radio/internet broadcaster
    - Must have scoreboard operator
    - Must have an official scorekeeper

This does not include gate, concession and field maintenance (or in the Owls case, a mascot) during each game. As you can tell, it takes a lot of manpower to do this. I believe most teams do a very good job in keeping their fans informed with their team websites, but like anything else, some are better than others. Quite frankly, a few years ago, most of the team websites were not very sophisticated, but they have improved dramatically.

There is a new sense of excitement in the league as we have brought in some very good businessman as owners (baseball guys, too), and I believe this excitement and enthusiasm has been contagious with all the franchisees.

Unfortunately there is no league office (yet), so there is not one person responsible for the league website and stats. As I said, some teams are very good at reporting their team stats, while others, I suspect, are needing a little volunteer help.

    Let's talk baseball

My original post was actually meant along those lines - that the SCBL is getting to the point where it should be considered as a rival to the Valley and Coastal Plain leagues. I was just pointing out that stats was something which it's behind in (something to work on).

Anyway, changing subjects, I was not at the game but a great double header tonight as Asheville split with Morganton. I was listening on TeamLine (no complaints on that :1luvu:) to Harvey Dahl the Morganton announcer - who is the best I've heard so far although I've only heard half of teams.

So Asheville takes the first on a complete game 2-0 shutout by pitcher Ryan Jones (Lenoir-Rhyne). However in the 2nd, leading 2-1, bottom of 5th, with 2 outs, guys on 2nd and 3rd, they intentially walk Garrett Furr (who had the monster game against them earlier - 4 HRs including 2 Grand Slams) to pitch to Brandon Thigpen who just joined the team (Methodist University), and of course Thigpen drills a grand slam with Furr watching from 1st. To their credit, Asheville fights back to tie the game, but lose in extra innings 7-6.

    Sorry "WE"

Dropped the first game to the Owls 8 - 4, but "We" started to hit the ball in the last inning of the first game and continued into the second game, winning 16 - 6. I think "we" are beginning to come together on the field, in the dugout, and away from the ball parks. This group might turn into something special, just have to wait and see. :pleased:

    Aggie Collapse ?

    WOW !!!

Aggies about to go to 15-4 on the season, leading Pineville 4-0 in top of 9th, and all of a sudden, 7 runs are scored !!! There were errors, wild pitches, a few hits, but certainly more runs were scored than hits in the inning. Next games are with Lake Norman on Friday, it will be interesting to see if the Aggies come back strong, or does this shake their confidence a little ??? I was thinking we could have an Aggie runaway this year, but "not so fast my friend" !!!
